GFY, or any business minded forum, is what you make of it.
Like Sly, I still routinely get business done here and have for years. Whether it's finding a programmer/designer/developer, or working content, hosting, or other deals. I could read the forum, or trade mags if I wanted to simply stay informed while avoiding the bullshit.
If you are just posting to troll people you do not like as if this is a popularity contest, grade school playground, or other senseless nonsense,.... than all you are really doing is reinforcing to the rest of us that you're a hobbyist. Not a businessman.

For the first few months I gave other "webmasters" a nice payday a few times.
Now they're nowhere to be found of course....
Recently I've not been so naive and have just tried to stumble through this shit myself or ask questions on here.

I try to help out where I can. I wish I could give and do more but I just don't make the money nor do I have the knowledge to do so. I have made some great friendships here though and learned a thing or two and made a moves/deals to make a couple G's to spend on beer. Now if I could only stop posting so much and focus on makes 2G's -> 20G's or even 200Gs :-o

There's a little clique that works together and does just fine. A number of years ago, business was rampant here. Now its more like a circle jerk where a few people work with each other all the time.
GFY WAS a massive business forum. Now, its more like a little incestuous community.
Not necessarily a bad thing, and - if you want access - its easy enough to join the club. Personally, I'm not interested in anything that anybody here is selling.

Mostly a time waster to read gossip and politics, not about business, but is ok. I registered here in 2003 to hire a guy to submit galleries to tgps for $1000 a month and found, fair. Funny that such type of job no more exists, does it?
More than get deals (these are done by emailing and ICQ the people directly from their sites contact pages), in GFY you get to know drama of site down or site not paid, for this GFY is quite efficient - for complaints.Comment

I only come here while I render videos. The more I'm here, the more you know I have videos working in the background because I can't really do much else other that do light surfing while the machines are running.
That said, I don't come here much to get business. Usually just for sport, the occasional question, or looking for something someone else is selling. Stopped producing for other people a couple of years ago. But if I have to waste time online, it's either GFY, Facebook or Youtube.Comment
