I'm pretty sure China will eventually agree to sanctions on NK or give them a brotherly smack in the face.

NK is saber rattling far too much and has openly threatened to attack another country at the UN. That pretty much gives the UN or the US/SK the right to do a pre-emptive strike if we choose to being NK has threatened to use nukes.

The last thing China would ever want is having the US taking over NK. Not to mention if the US & SK attacked NK there would be millions of North Koreans fleeing to China.

China will be the one that finally bitch slaps NK into line, there is no way they want the US sitting on their door step.

Just another thought.. assuming NK govt finally fails or for what ever reason be it war or what ever if NK ever "opens up", I wonder what the culture shock will be for their population.

I don't think there is another country in the world where it's population has been brainwashed to such a degree and kept sheltered from out side influences.

Depends on what the North Koreans do, how the USA handles it, and how you look at it.

Vietnam kicked our ass. Afghanistan and Iraq will probably hand us our ass eventually. Never underestimate the other guys, especially if they have the home court advantage and are fighting for their homeland. There is also no telling if there is some North Korean sleeper cell in the USA just waiting for the call to blow up half of a major city.

You also don't have to wipe out the entire USA to destroy it. Look at what knocking two buildings did. That more or less ruined the nation, surged us into wars we can not afford, and led to the slaughter of thousands of more Americans and hundreds of thousands of civilians from other nations. I'd call 9-11 a home run for whoever did it. Knocked it out of the ballpark. There is no telling what some whack job nation like N. Korea has up their sleeve. Or not.

while most Americans think they are safe with big military and budgets, modern 21st century warfare requires none of that. It's about destabilizing economies, and after 9/11 the USA is a pretty big target labeled as "sucker' by any terrorist group. I'm betting the USA would do it again over a another small strike.

oh the US government and their corporate masters will always make $$$ on war...the USA has not really won a war since WW2 but rather killed a lot of civilians who were force drafted by the unlucky government to be graced by US "liberation", and they also killed millions of plain regular civilian civilians who were "collaterally damaged" in the "War efforts"...

on the other hand the best interests of american civilians were never the point of US foreign policy but the best interests of the corporate government...how the fuck does vietnam or iraq or n.korea concern the US citizen?? the post WW2 wars had absolutely nothing to do with defending american soil or liberating some nation that was begging for US bombers to come and napalm shit up and leave after killing xxx,xxx people...although some people will surely claim otherwise
