APHSS Announces September?s Scheduled Syphilis Program for Testing to Start Immediately

CANOGA PARK, Calif. ? Adult Production Health & Safety Services (APHSS.org) has announced that the semi-annual syphilis testing program scheduled for September will instead begin immediately and run through the end of September.

The action follows recent unsubstantiated rumors of a syphilis incident among adult performers. Due to concerns raised by performers and producers, and with a desire to provide optimal care, APHSS.org made the decision to launch the program immediately, in order to alleviate any further concerns. The Center for Disease control, the National Institute of Health and the Department of Public Health recommend testing for syphilis only once a year and for highly sexually-active populations twice a year. Originally, the syphilis testing program was scheduled for the months of September and March.

?Though there has been no confirmation of these rumors, we have heard the concerns of producers and performers, and their well-being is our primary concern,? said FSC Executive Director Diane Duke. ?By launching the program early, performers can go to APHSS-recommended testing facilities and get tested for syphilis for free, along with their regular performer tests panel.?

The testing facilities that will offer free syphilis testing through the end of September include Cutting Edge Testing, SameDayTest.com (AMTC), and STDStatus.com. Contact information for these facilities can be found at the APHSS.org website. https://aphss.org/performer-info

While there has been no confirmation of any syphilis infections in the U.S. performer population, APHSS policy dictates pro-active procedures to ensure that industry self-regulation protocols are observed. Any cases of syphilis tested within the system would follow those protocols, which includes partner identification.

Syphilis is treatable. Early detection of syphilis is the key to fast, effective treatment with antibiotics. Individuals that may have had syphilis previously and been treated should be aware that antibodies created by the infection may trigger a ?false positive? result and, in those cases, confirmatory tests must be administered to confirm any possible active infection. Any extra tests may take additional days to complete.

One Male Performer Is Positive for Syphilis, Agents Say

LOS ANGELES — There is one male performer in the Los Angeles porn community who tested positive for syphilis in July and worked three times with a doctored STI test during the past three weeks, talent agents Shy Love and Derek Hay told XBIZ Thursday afternoon.

The performer, who was on Love’s Adult Talent Managers roster until this morning, admitted to working while knowingly positive with syphilis, and also to doctoring his test. The admission was made to both Hay, the owner of LA Direct Models, and the production executive that realized the test had been altered.

1) Wow. They should bar that guy from ever working in the business again. However, we all know that won't happen. Back when I caught a LA girl using a fake HIV test years ago and told both her agent and AIM about it, she worked for years after that.

2) So the FSC press release of "unsubstantiated rumors" was totally incorrect. And not only was it incorrect, considering that release wasn't even 24 hours ago, and the information about the male performer has been around a little bit, then either the FSC (and their new testing business) has NO idea what is really going on inside the industry, or it was a flat out lie and a weak attempt to cover up the fact that a performer knowingly has syphilis and has been working with a fake test and infecting others. Imagine that. Either way... douche bags who have no business in the testing business.

Actually, if all the labs were entering the testing data into APHSS, this wouldn't have happened.

As I understand the protocols, the APHSS data is entered directly by the labs and remotely accessed by those in need of the information, i.e. green light to work.

Working with altered documents is what occurs when people rely on documents that have been in the hands of third parties such as actors, agents and producers.

Just my opinion.

Unfortunately, the guy worked for me a few weeks ago. His test didn't look right so I took a picture of it. I certainly will not hire him again.

I'd hold onto that. It very well may be used for evidence at a later time if no one else has a copy of it. I'd be shocked if there isn't legal action over this.
