    A special kind of athlete's tape



    Why is this tape so special that one has to have certification to apply it? What's so special about it. Can it kill someone if used improperly? Has anyone used it?

    Kinesio tape, developed by a Japanese doctor over 30 years ago is much more than just a fashion statement -- though athletes like German beach volleyball player Katrin Holtwick use it for both. It takes a special certification just to be licensed to apply it and once on, it separates the upper layer of the skin from muscle tissue.           Even if it's performance enhancing (dubious)...there has to be a point where the athlete must realize, "I look like a dumbass wearing this."
