If it was me all those olympic threads, off topic threads would be shit canned to "off topic" forum. Same way as buy and sell threads should be in buy and sell forum.

I've said that for years - but never going to happen. The traffic is what makes GFY profitable to investors and those advertising here. Rid yourself of non industry profiles and the sales of ad space and board daily posts etc will drop significantly.

Still as in most buy and sell (retail for example) businesses majority of buyers are the ones that need/want to buy something. And those that bought something only because they saw something (spontaneously) are the minority.
Your example just proves that you did not need to buy much here. If you needed something - would you pop in buy and sell and do a search or would you do nothing and wait expecting that someone would post a thread in main forum? Even if it may take a month or a year lol

If I look for something specific I'll do a search on gfy as a board, not just the buy/sell forum, on account of not being a fucking moron who would restrict the results and possibly miss out, so I'll find it anyway - people posting products/services here on the chitchat/olympics/nwo/tv show/daily mail/would you hit it/cookery section gives more exposure to whichever product is being sold, and does me a favour by way of bringing my attention to a product/service that I may think 'hey, that sounds pretty useful, I can use that at xyz site, or for abc project'.

And no, I'm saying gfy should get rid of pedantic up their own arse members who get anal about a product/service being posted in the main forum because 'wait! there's another section for that! It's against the ruuuuuules wahwahfuckingwah'. Or members cluttering up the main section with useless threads moaning about other threads, and making it harder to find the important chitchat/olympics/nwo/tv show/daily mail/would you hit it/cookery threads. Because god forbid anyone skim over a thread topic that didn't interest them. Prick.

Like I said:
I agre that daily mail, would you hit it/tv show threads are way worse than buy and sell threads in main forum. However there is no "off topic" forum section, so they stay there on main.

I think you should be the one who would vote for deletion of "buy and sell" section - that way you would see more business threads on main forum among all those off topic threads
