Yes, they do get the name back, but the title banners and awards, etc. stay with The Thunder.

				 | I feel bad for the city of Sacramento. They did support the team even though they may well have the worst arena in the NBA. From what i have read, the Maloof's bankroll was nuked during the financial crisis (due primarily to their ill-timed expansion of the Palms). Had they kept their powder dry, the story might be different.

"Sacramento mayor Kevin Johnson said last week that he had received approval from NBA commissioner David Stern to present a counteroffer to the league from buyers who would keep the team in Sacramento. Johnson had said the city is in a "six-week sprint" to put together a proposal for the NBA's Board of Governors to consider over a potential sale and relocation to Seattle." This is what I read. The rest of the article says a done deal basically. 1 or 2 seasons in old Sonics Stadium while new one is built. | |

				 | As a long time Kings fan, this is a sad day for me. Sad but expected as the Maloof's have been trying to move the team for yrs now. Quote:

I agree they should have been out of the NBA years ago. They lost their bankroll and have been inexplicably hanging on for far too long.

Hopefully the new owners in Seattle can do a better job this time around. Only time will tell.
