So what I don't get, is that they are trying to say that they used excessive force to get him. He lives in a place with 12 staff, plus a guard house and has a panic room. What did he expect? Someone would saunter up to the gatehouse, announce their intent to the guards to call up to the house, and inform Mr Dotcom that he was about to be arrested, only to have him jump into a helicopter and take off? Oh.. I'm sorry, he was here and you just missed him. And he can't complain that they used force to handcuff him, he evaded them by going into the panic room and waited for them to find him. I'm sure he made several calls during that time.

They went in w/ a large force I am sure also due to the large size of the compound and staff.. They did not go in wearing full battle gear since they did not see it as huge threat just lots of ground/space to cover if he did try to flee, which there was a good likelihood of.

It was one of those things where they likely could no win no matter the outcome. Say just 1 or 2 cops went to his house and politely knocked on the door to serve the warrant. While they were talking to his butler or maid or whoever, Kim is sneaking out the back and flying away in his helicopter. Now the police look like idiots and will spend more money trying to track him down. So instead they risk looking like fools and overwhelming the place. The idea is that they make sure they get him and when he sees the huge show of force he basically gives up instead of maybe considering fighting back.
