There are a bunch of reasons why that could happen. Are you using X86 or X64? Are you possibly using an Intel with Nvidia video card?

One thing to try:
$sudo chmod +x /etc/X11/X
$startx

If that doesn't work and you get "/etc/X11/X is not executable" then do this as root:
apt-get --reinstall install xserver-xorg-core

then
dpkg-reconfigure -a

When you are running, e2fsck partition should be unmounted, like a live CD or USB or something like that.

I have to go for a bit but my email is in my sig.

Anyone know of a good free host for blogs? I use to have a list but with the new laptop and pc I lost all my old files!!!

Tom

Thankfully you didn't get burned too much? Does he still owe you something? Seems like he is trying to clear his name but the only way to do that is by squaring up with you if he owes you as well as black monsters (and anyone else we may not know about).

Nope he don't owe me nothing it had nothing to do with that, it was something else.. :( nothing big though.. but things made sense after seeing this thread.

That's an IP to your local network, you need to provide an external IP to your machine.

When I type it in at my moms my house it works don't know why it isnt working for anyone else :( WTF :( :(

How do I add an external IP would love to be able to add my domain names but have NO Clue on how to do this, this machine is at my house on my main pc... I love freebsd but have a little knowledge about this :(

Sosa 08-20-2012 06:44 PM

You're trying to run a server from your house? Why not just get a $10/ month shared? That number you are trying to access is on your own internal network, no different than the IP you type in to access your router admin. Google whatsmyip and see what the external IP address is on your server. I assume you could access it from that as long as you are outside your home network, although I am not too familiar with running a server from my house.
