They'd need to start from scratch and start looking after the health of their people from birth i.e. cut down the vaccines, improve nutrition, ditch Fluoride etc. If they did that for 25 years you'd notice a big difference at the Olympics

hmm.. in my home country the government funds them - based on talent and results. many are officially employed with the police or army but can use all their time just for training.
according to that theory they should already win everything then. but they dont. so i am afraid this doesnt work.Comment

I don't know what country you are referring to. The US has a good population to find candidates. I know the US wouldn't win every event, but I the amount of overall medals would increase drastically.hmm.. in my home country the government funds them - based on talent and results. many are officially employed with the police or army but can use all their time just for training.

Some events like 100m and such you can only train so much for and then it's god given talent.
Countries like China this happens. They are selected at a very young age and must train like it's their job.Comment

No. Our American Soccer (football) team didnt even qualify for the olympics.Comment

Could we if we wanted to? Yes, kind of. We could put ourselves in a position where we were capable of winning every gold. To do this, however, would take a lot of money because there are so many sports, some of which we don't even qualify for, that we would have to put together programs with coaches and facilities to train athletes for every sport. Then we would have to find people who wanted to do those events. We would have to look at it like Romania used to look at women's gymnastics. They had girls from a young age dedicate their lives to it. The government took complete care of them and their one job was to do well in the Olympics.
I doubt the public would be very willing to spend the kind of money a huge endeavor like this would cost.Comment

The country who has the most black people, my vote is on them.
Cool article below.
Four-time Olympic gold medalist sprinter Michael Johnson has been quoted as saying he believes slave descendants make superior athletes -- and that such a controversial topic shouldn't be avoided but discussed openly as the world begins to turn its attention to the London Olympics.
"All my life I believed I became an athlete through my own determination, but it's impossible to think that being descended from slaves hasn't left an imprint through the generations," he is quoted as saying in an article in the British newspaper the Daily Mail. "Difficult as it was to hear, slavery has benefited descendants like me -- I believe there is a superior athletic gene in us."

Not really. Many countries specialize in certain sports. Hard to break in. For example: china owns table tennis.Comment
