so I guess you would be happy if a million Americans picked up guns and decided that they were going to force the other 299 million Americans into their own ideology regardless of what they thought? would you be happy to hear of them causing chaos and destruction in the US so that they - the tiny minority - could rule over the majority?

the majority of Syrians don't like things the way they are but they like them the way they are much more than they would like what this opposition wants to do with the country.

No, no, no! Americans only want to see non-American dictators killed and non-Americans forced into living the American version of democracy, whatever that means.

Assad has seen his last days(or weeks) in power, and he WILL end up being dragged into the street by an angry mob. It's an inevitability. Doesn't matter how strong his military is. If the people of a country have the guts to unseat someone from power, they're going to do it eventually.

Even if he goes to Russia or China, he'll still eventually be assassinated, just as with Gaddafi they don't want him alive to tell his side of the story. The will want him to die in a brutal fashion to help put other leaders off resisting the West.

If the current regime is overthrown, Syria will be completely fucked, just like Libya is now, with large-scale humanitarian problems, but the UN and Rebels will be off to Lebanon (next on the hitlist)

Watching the Arab Spring has given me a new respect for dictators. Most of these places need a strong leader.

Assad should take a vacation though, his game is up.

I suspect the West will take him down within 90 days, the Brits are in there now. He's a brave man to be staying to defend his people.

It's interesting how a lot of people seem to assume that a Dictator must be 'bad' and not care for his people. In the case of Libya, Gaddafi was protecting his people, they will wish he was still there.

Democracy is generally a scam and very easy to control, just put two parties there which are very similar and only differ on irrelevant topics like Gay Marriage, to distract people from the important issues

This is the main thing that occurred to me listening to Syria news and the atrocities that have been happening there....

The people in the military are Syrians also. I can't get how a military can kill its own people, and possibly harm friends and family. Just shows how barbaric that part of the world is.

We all know Russia and China are shady, but does anyone think it's scary that China is supposed to be running the world in the next few years? Not that the US government hasn't done their fair share of fucked up shit around the world -- but would you want a country who would support a mass child murderer like Assad to be called a superpower?

Syria buys a ton of military hardware from Russia. They don't want to lose that cash cow.

It is going to get real interesting over there. Our little PLO friend that suggests this is a matter of 1 million Syrians revolting is not paying attention. Assad has to flee in the night or go out ala Tony Montana and hope he pulls it off.

The Al Jazeera head quarters are in Qatar which has "intimate military ties with the United States, and is now the location of U.S. Central Command?s Forward Headquarters and the Combined Air Operations Center" http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Al_Jazeera

The US pretends to dislike the channel, in the same way as the West pretends to dislike Julian Assange/Wikileaks. It's all part of the game.

It's no coincidence that Al Jazeera's bias is the same as CNN, BBC and Co. Whereas Russia today, they clearly are the opposition, they support Syria, as do China's news channels.

"Ali Hashem vented his anger over Al Jazeera's one-sided coverage of Syria and its refusal to cover the events in Bahrain. In an exclusive interview with RT, the former Beirut correspondent Hashem refrained from discussing his resignation, but stressed that these days, independent media is a myth. "

?There is no independent media anymore. It is whose agenda is paying the money for the media outlet,? he said. ?Politicization of media means that media outlets are today like political parties. Everyone is adopting a point of view, fight for it and bring all the tools and all the means they have in order to make it reach the biggest amount of viewers.?
