here's what I do
For primary ads I have AdX tags with fallback. With them advertisers buy ads on CPM or CPC basis so it would depend on who's ad is being served but I've had .4-.9 CTR earning about $0.05-$0.06 per click on US/CA traffic.
However, you can enter the target CPM you want to have - maximum I think was $1 or $5, I forget. But if they don't meet your target CPM they'll pass the traffic on to a backup tag you paste during the setup process, which can be any other ad network or your own banners.......
