    3 injured after shotgun accidentally fires at N.C. gun show

    A 12-gauge shotgun loaded with bird shot accidentally discharged Saturday when the owner opened its case at a gun show at the North Carolina State Fairgrounds in Raleigh, injuring a retired sheriff's deputy and two other people, police said.

                              Hes an idiot for transporting it fully loaded and ready to fire. No need to keep a shotgun chambered until youre ready. Maybe youre at home defense shotgun. BUt never one for sport or transport. Its not a go to firearm.

                                          if you can't load your gun properly in enough time to defend yourself at home you shouldn't have one.. what you're suggesting is fucking dangerous.

                                          if the same thing happened at home for this guy it would have ended up injuring his wife and kids instead.

                                              You can have most shotguns or a semi-auto pistol loaded but nothing chambered. You can't accidentally chamber a round no matter how big an idiot might be handling the firearm.

                                                      Firearms are dangerous -- that is the fucking point. You don't transport a loaded firearm in a case -- period. Maybe there should be an IQ test for firearms ownership?

People fall off ladders, slip in the bathtub, wreck cars, start kitchen fires, fall from balconies, drown while swimming, etc, etc.

                                                                          It would be impossible to get thousands of average citizens together doing the same thing and not have some do something stupid.
