What's with the attitude from designers?

Insecurity. Plain and simple.Ayla, I've been on GFY since 2001 and have just over 1100 posts, I'm hardly someone looking to start any drama. This email though just rubbed me the wrong way! Total disrespect for a potential customer!
I just can't begin to think why someone would want to come across this way?
With that being said, and note that I've only hired designers for mainstream projects, it seems the nutty ones do tend to do the best work. But only a genuine nutty, not a forced nutty. Not too contrived. This one is contrived.
I also can even appreciate it when a designer has a confidence level bordering on delusional. But only provided they have the portfolio to at least somewhat back it up. This one doesn't come close.
Attitude is not problem to deal with whatsoever. Cunts, on the other hand, can be a bit of hassle. Even those of which are contrived.Last edited by jimmycooper; 07-11-2012, 12:52 PM.

Not sure how you took my post, but to clarify, I was only referring to the fact that this board was covered with posts about this designer just weeks ago, and, "here we go" again. Please do carry on.Ayla, I've been on GFY since 2001 and have just over 1100 posts, I'm hardly someone looking to start any drama. This email though just rubbed me the wrong way! I knew my time would come, i've been quiet for years about her;-)
Few years back we needed a new logo, so we spoke with some people. We gave her a chance, here's what happened:
- She drew a draft, we did not like it. We asked for changes after the FIRST draft, she asked for more money, obviously we did not agree and chose to not take her work and let her keep the 50%.
We did thousands of banners and other designs for many many big clients here, we always went for 100% satisfaction, or take our losses. That is what a draft is for, right?
She went mad, calling us names and threathen us. After that she followed me for a short while here, replying in each thread we were cheaters and did not pay, whgereas I was under the impression we were very kind to let her keep 50% for a draft.
I knew she was bad news, but since we're not here a lot I thought she might be the 'new generation' so i kept quiet. Now i see i was right about her, i hope she does not get any more jobs through GFY, if you're wise, you stay away.
We then hired from the more established bunch, which obviously went fine.

dude. im not sticking up for what she said or did. and yes treating people like that is a bad thing. its poor ethics. but, her doing that has given you a bad taste... what could be any more fitting for that reaction? none.I never said she didn't have a right to handle it that way. I am questioning WHY handle it that way? I don't know anything about her issue with Zuzana or anyone else; I am a customer looking to get work done. If you don't want to work with me, why not tell me so politely? Why give me attitude when I was kind enough to offer you my business?
So no, on second thoughts, I don't think she has any fucking right to treat her potential customers that way. That's just wrong!
so... yes she has a right to treat you like that and equally you have the right to not use her service and you also have the right to post about it here, letting others see how you were treated.
Why am I the only one that can see black and white around here? not gray.Comment

I honestly have no idea what Zuzana charges, not do I know what Anna charges. Obviously price will play some part in my decision process but it won't play the ONLY part.Programming today is a race between software engineers striving to build bigger and better idiot-proof programs, and the Universe trying to produce bigger and better idiots. I saw the threads mate, even laughed about it with someone on icq. However, business is business and I like to form my own opinions of people and had never interacted with her before. As it turns out, I won't be interacting with her ever again!Programming today is a race between software engineers striving to build bigger and better idiot-proof programs, and the Universe trying to produce bigger and better idiots. You're right Ayla, I did take it the wrong way, I apologise. Friends?
Deej, honestly, I don't know you except for seeing you post on here, and from what I've seen you seem like a decent guy. I do have to ask though; why do you think she has a right to treat me or ANY other potential client with blatant disrespect straight off the bat? If this is what people think is "ok", then it's no wonder the world is going so drastically wrong.dude. im not sticking up for what she said or did. and yes treating people like that is a bad thing. its poor ethics. but, her doing that has given you a bad taste... what could be any more fitting for that reaction? none.

INSPITE of everything I have read about her on the boards over the last month or so, I went to her offering her my business, because no matter what her issues were or are with other people, I thought they would be far removed from any business dealings she had with me since I was never involved in any of that drama.
I'm sorry, but you can see this as black and white is you like, but to me and anyone else who is being REAL, it is blatant disrespect for a client. I honestly can't believe she replied like that and have never had anyone reply like that in all the years I have been in business.Programming today is a race between software engineers striving to build bigger and better idiot-proof programs, and the Universe trying to produce bigger and better idiots. If you follow that rule with creative people, you are going to be paying for a lot of garbage. :-)
Designers, programmers, other creative people? Notorious for being nuts. Some are more nuts than others. Sometimes you just have to deal with the craziness if you want good results.Vacares - Web Hosting, Domains, O365, Security & More - Paxum and BTC Accepted

If she wants to ruin her integrity and reputation by replying like that and running off more potential business... then by all means she can do that.
I get it, youre offended by the response. You did what you had to. Present it to your colleagues to see.
I was more or less just pointing out her flaw and her distaste for her competition. I am in no way sticking up for her response. Simply saying she can crash and burn all she wants. no skin off your teeth... right?
Im on your side bro
