You are making a business proposal to potential partners trying to convince them that you can bill customers 12 months a year for the pleasure of viewing Ann Angel's 35 year old body doing 2 updates in a 7 month period.

Take all of the affiliates away and all you have is a product sitting on the shelf earning you nothing. So the affiliates make YOU $ from promoting the "product(s)" you offer. Now, how will you have affiliates selling your product so you can make $ when no one trusts you anymore or wants to deal with you?

A smart business person would do everything that they can to make potential resellers/affiliates happy. They would pay everything that was owed and make 100% sure that the affiliates can feel safe doing business with them again. In the end it would be a win/win, but you decided to not go that route, obviously.

In either case, the one you were defending should pay the people she owes and by you defending her it makes YOU look bad. I built the MAJORITY of my own traffic thank you. So it would appear that the answer is NO affiliates are not the life blood of a site. Sorry if facts insult anyone. But fact is since 2003 affiliates have not been an intricate part of our business model. Anna's members love her and have stuck around since day one as well.....you know Anna..... the product.

My problem came with only how other people approached that girl Melissa when she was TRYING to do the right thing. People fuck up and make mistakes and she was admitting to it and hoping to rectify it. That's what I was defending and stand by it. You may make money all of your own with only 15% of your traffic/sales coming from affiliates but I doubt you have many 'whales' there. Get one of them and your entire view of the people that post here on GFY often would change and you would see the value of being respectful and listening to what the community here has to say. We both know that wasn't Melissa who posted that thread. He/She was only trying to do "the right thing" all of a sudden because they had left dozens of affiliates with no paychecks and no explanation for months, and now decided he/she actually needed the affiliate traffic back. Your post brushed off all the money owed as if affiliates should just forget about it as the models are the ones who do all the hard work. Now that you've stated you are friends with Melissa and Biggy, its easy to see how you were blinded. It was more than them just shutting down their affiliate program, they hadn't made payouts long before the closure.

I have gotten screwed once or twice on site designs. I paid and they never did the work. Then months even years later the designers came back and asked if they could please rectify it by doing something else for me at no charge. I didn't act unprofessional towards them or like a screaming crying whinny baby. I was nice and understanding....and guess what? They fixed the problem! They shut the affiliate program off and last time I checked there are no rules written anywhere against that. I could be wrong. Nothing illegal was done here. And you may NOT agree with that and that's fine....but then it's your choice to sign up to promote a site that uses something like NATS or a site that uses CCbill affiliate payouts. Chalk it up as a lesson learned.

Which is exactly why you should have never commented in that thread. It wasn't even Melissa you were defending, it was her boyfriend or ex who was trying to milk affiliates for more traffic under the guise that they would eventually be paid. Sure he's paid a couple of the big amounts he's owed, but many affiliates are still unpaid. You can keep on defending Melissa's program and you'll continue ruining any credibility you still have remaining. Nobody was attacking Melissa in that thread, they were merely doubting the authenticity of the thread starter's promise based on his prior actions.
