One came through here like a hurricane two days ago. It only lasted 5 minutes but ripped down power wires, knocked over trees, and even a few roofs were peeled off around town. This weather is insane! We're starting to see more storms with hurricane strength winds and of course the construction and warning systems aren't in place to handle them. We went 36 hours without power, but it's back on now.

I went 16 hours without power last weekend. Transformer blown out.

If that transformer didn't feed the local cable and dsl box, I would have been without power for 24 hours at least.

That truly sucked. but with a new high quality fridge tightly shut, we didn't lose any food.

It was a rough reminder that the infrastructure is rotting.

I'm stocking up on more battery powered backup items, expecting more power failures in future years. Battery powered fans for instance - you just dont know what a luxury a fan is until you have no power.

id head over to home depot or lowes and get a generator
