    London hotel rates for Olympics

Did they go crazy? We get the Olympics in four years in Rio and I would love to know what people are doing. Renting out their houses etc?

London doesn't look too crazy on Craigslist. Anyone know?

Rio is going to be a much tighter deal as only about 10% of our housing is of first world standards. So if 100k people pour into the city, that takes up a lot of the decent housing. Will be interesting.

if the Olympics are coming to you, they will build new housing and fix up the whole city since the world is watching.

It doesn't look too bad in the middle of the city. I'm moving there right during the olympics and may need a place for a week and the rates are pretty decent. I'm surprised.

Here are two alternatives for you

Rio 2016 is the next Olympics and yes they are doing stuff. But it is Brasil. For the recent world summit, they closed half the brothels for a few days. The hotel rates went crazy and lots of European countries canceled. I rented my place out for over $500/day for the week. That is three times what we get when we rent it out while traveling.

If I could do that for a month while the Olympics are in town, that would be nice.

LOL It wasn't our first choice. We were going to go to Monaco but the waiting list for my boy to get into school was too long (maybe next year). We had a list of places that were smart moves (financially) we looked them over and London was second on the list (1st for my wife). So we are going to give it a shot for a year. It's her favorite city in the world so she is extremely happy and excited about the move We'll see how we handle the weather.

I'm betting that at the end of that year, you will be glad to be out of there....
