Photo Retouching?

Is this a skill that is profitable? I've become fairly decent with retouching photos in the past year. Never thought I'd ever get this far with Photoshop, but I have. Is this a skill that is of any value around here? Like most things in adult, probably not. That is why I never come here anymore. It was just an idea I came up with recently. It's more or less a hobby with my own photos. I imagine I'll get a bunch of replies like this: "Naw man, don't do it. You won't make a penny." Then I'll go back into GFY abstinence for another two years.

I've seen a few people asking for such things in the now hiring section now and again, it would all depend on how much time you would spend on it. I doubt anyone is going to pay that much per image so couldn't see it being an awesome income, a side one yes.

Hey Darkhorse. Great first reply. A little relief that I didn't get some bozo which is what I had expected. Now maybe I'll actually check back on this thread.

Your reply reminded me that I did see a post like that in the Hiring section. I'd forgotten about it. It was like .003 cents per photo. Forget that. I'm talking about real photo retouching. For pennies like that I'm not sure what they are doing. Perhaps running it through a Topaz filter and that's it. Anyone can do that.

I would talk to some of your local photographers. Wedding, homecoming, senior pictures, that sort of thing. They often need retouching work and unless they know someone local, will most likely send it off to a "lab" and get raped.

When I don't want to do it myself, I use Colorati. Check out their prices to get an idea of what to charge for retouching.

I make good money from it. Post some examples and Ill tell you how good you are.

Ive been doing this for years and have some ibg names for clients. Some people dont understand how long it takes to do some pictures properly so theyre blown away by how much it can cost but the ones that know are glad to pay so they dont have to spend the HOURS it takes to go through sets.

Are you talking about just making things soft or are you talking about professional photo retouching?

So do you get a lot of photo edit requests through the link in your website? I like those before and after shots. Real retouching like the stuff you did. Removing blemishes, softening the skin, dodge and burn, etc. I wont' share my personal photos here. They are not adult related. I will have to take a challenge later on here. Maybe someone send me a photo and then I retouch it. So you guys can critique my skills. I'm not quite ready for that yet. I was just getting an idea if this is something worth pursuing later down the line when I'm more confident in my skills.

I touch up a set at least once a week. Most are return clients but some are now and then randoms. All retouching needs vary so there is no set price or method.

No one will challenge you for your proof. Go out pic a picture that you think is in need of improvement and do it. Youre not selling it but just practicing so I dont see a legal issue with practicing and presenting a photo. Just pick a no name chick with shitty skin and do your work. grab somethign with blemishes, tattoos and lighting issues. Touch it up. show it. or just practice in the dark until you like your work.
