    Why don't Americans bitch about the weather?

    In the UK we talk about nothing else - Its too cold, too hot, too wet, too dry....

    I see they are having a major heat wave in the US (40c +) and not a word.

    There where a few posts during Katrina about it but even then they played it down.

      I'm glad it's pissing it down here today. Not hard enough if you ask me.

      A huge "Orange walk" parade of over 50 bands is marching about here and i fucking hate the cunts!

      It should all be banned. No excuses for it. I hope someone steals a bus and drives through the lot of them.

          Because the USA is a lot larger and the weather is a lot more diverse.

          If we go to our local forums we will discuss our weather.

          If you paid attention you would have noticed the people complaining about the current heat wave tho.

              I live in Northern California. I love the weather here. It gets cold in the winter but never ever snows, and so far this summer it's been great - we had one day where it was 108 but otherwise for the entire month of June it's been in the upper 80s / lower 90s. Never any humidity.

                          The weather is good here. Sunny and 87 degrees with mild humidity. A fresh 10 knot ocean breeze keeps it cool. A few clouds here and there. I guess I can't complain too much.

                                  Depends on where you live and that will determine the amount of bitching.

                                  No one will complain about the rain, it just happens unless you live in an area like Seattle, it rains more often and in Los Angeles, it rains less.

                                  Where I live the temperature fluctuates by almost 100 degrees (F) within 6 months. Yesterday was over 100 F while in Jan/Feb it will go down to almost 0 F.

                                  In Marina del Rey where I used to live, it doesn't change all that much between summer and winter.

                                  It's another insanely hot day today here where everyone is just sweating like crazy, but people always have something else to bitch about like Obamacare

                                      Yeah it is gonna be hot for at least another week (around 90 here). One of the longer hot spells.

                                      That 100 stuff some of you are getting

                                                  You can have your pick of weather in the USA. Pretty much every climate is represented, from Arctic to temperit to desert to tropical. We aren't stuck with one kind of weather. You can just move to the weather that you like. I like tropical, so I moved to Miami...

                                                                  Boy that's fucking hot. We see 100+ on rare occasion and you literally start to get a lil dizzy behind the wheel and in traffic at 102+ with humidity and no a/c. It's like there is no cool anywhere.

I just spent 23.5 hours with no power here in Indiana cause of a storm yesterday. It was 88 today with no AC.. I borrowed a generator to keep the food and drinks cold today but it wasn't big enough to run my AC.

                                                                                              Also very glad I had my android phone and a car charger or I would've lost my mind with boredom.

                                                                                                  Actually I do. From 1997 to 1999 I worked in this biz behind the (486 ) computer in a mobile home with NO a/c! It was SUPER fucken hot at times. Maybe 110-120. No wonder I was crazy on the boards then

                                                                                                  I would put a cold water wetted 100% cotton T on and sit in front of a fan.

                                                                                                  Not bad, it works but you have to re-wet the T every half hour. SO I NEEDED the money in 1999 lol

                                                                                                              Here's there's no reason to bitch unless it's extreme. Extreme being bad weather in your own neighborhood. I live in a city bigger than Luxembourg an weather on one side of town can be totally different than the other. Other day it was 108F. Hottest so far this year, but it's been 120 a few years back. Wind Chill has been -50F before. Have some serious flooding in the past. And of course tornadoes up to F5. Temperatures have dropped 40 degrees in a matter of minutes. Rain can make it go from 100 to 60 or a winter storm of 60 to 20. Hunters have been found frozen to death wearing shirt sleeves and a winter storm hit too fast.

                                                                                                              We're just used to this that unless something hits your house or neighborhood it's no big deal. Parts of the city have been almost wiped out by flooding. There are houses in my neighborhood that still only have the basement walls where a F5 tornado in 2004 ripped through. That tornado was 1/2 mile wide and was on the ground for 20 miles.

                                                                                                              Then again, it could be it takes a lot for us to bitch. Actors from the days of vaudeville knew Kansas City was the toughest town to play. There's some old quote about farmers seeing dust storms, prairie fires, floods and tornadoes weren't easily impressed. That's why W C Fields insulted KC in the film International House. "I'm not lost. Kansas City is lost."
