I have tried it before - turned out to be real mess after all. I was thinking about this option:

aWiZ is a pain when it comes to design integration, many things are not possible there and hasn't been upgraded for many years. Besides I like many Wordpress themes so with some customization I will have much better looking site than now.Comment

Why would you want to switch to Wordpress? Wordpress kicked ass in 2005. Now, though... just don't - unless you want to hire someone full time to keep it updated and functioning. Every single day that you login to your Wordpress admin, you'll get "WAH! WAH! WAH! I are broken again! Update Me PLEEZ! May I can has cheezburger? I so sorry your was hacked!"
I own cats that can build a better, more secure CMS just by purring and walking across my keyboard. The grass used to be greener... now, not so much.
I love the naughty Nun, btw.Comment

have to change the home/site url settings in settings (or just in mysql).
u can also add something along the lines of define('RELOCATE',1) in wp-config.php (double check that... might be wrong been a while) and it should auto update.
if u just move all the files from a subdir, the .htaccess will be wrong as well (change /subdir to /) and permalinks will be wrong until you change the home/site url as aboveComment

none of the results answers my question, I always check google and old threads before asking questions on GFY. Still, thank you very much for valuable input.Comment
