I had to sign a waiver (in triplicate) stating that I'd photoshop out all police that appeared in public places while making themselves available to be photographed along the parade route.

In fact, ALL the parade watchers along the route had to do the same - about 5,000 of us. It was a long lineup at the waiver signing booth they'd set up especially for this. Stretched around the block. They were forced to serve refreshments and a few seniors collapsed from heat prostration.

Two 12 yr. olds refused to sign and were tazered on the spot. It got nasty. They were led away in cuffs and not seen again.

Pretty much.

I was talkin' to a guy from Rochester yesterday who'd crossed the border to watch the parade, and he made the comment, "Yeah...the War of 1812 was the only one America lost. And it was against Britain, not really Canada."

To which I said, "So...you guys call Vietnam a victory?"

He mumbled something I couldn't quite hear and moved on.

I love American revisionist history.
