    How you like them apples?
Good reading for "other minorities" who prefer to sit on their asses and bitch.

Asians have surpassed Hispanics as the largest group of new immigrants to the United States, according to a new study from the Pew Research Center.

The study, called "The Rise of Asian-Americans" and released on Tuesday, reveals that Asian-Americans also have the highest income, are the best-educated and are the fastest-growing racial group in America.

I'm surrounded by asians where I am. To tell you the truth, aside from hiring other people of my own race, asians are the only one I really don't have any complaints about.

When I would study in this 24/7 study hall, the place was always packed with asians and only asians after 12am or so. Granted some of them played games but they work harder than most.
They earned there stereotypes, the good ones that is...

You need to stop calling illegals as immigrants. Maybe migrants.

For these kind of studies, they should separate hispanics in two groups:

              1-Mexico and Central America group
              2-Spain and South America group

You would be amazed by the difference in all aspects between those two groups.

There's nothing permanent in being illegal. You get caught and your ass is on uts way back where you came from with no chance of coming back.

Immigration (derived from Latin: migratio) is the act of foreigners passing or coming into a country for the purpose of permanent residence.

They are under extreme pressure to succeed. Not to mention they are beaten by their parents and teachers.

What's interesting is most Asians don't fit in outside of Asian culture. Companies don't want to hire them.

It says nothing about intention. "I intend to make million dollars" does not make me millionaire.

Yes, it does state intention. Here, I'll explain it again for you.

                                          im·mi·grant noun \ˈi-mə-grənt\
: one that immigrates: as a : a person who comes to a country to take up permanent residence

There is the intention. An immigrant is someone coming to a country to take up permanent residence. Clearly you have a problem with reading comprehension.

Also, your comparison about a millionaire. No, intention is not the case with that - because the definition does not note any intention.

                                          mil·lion·aire noun \ˌmi(l)-yə-ˈner, ˈmi(l)-yə-ˌ\
: a person whose wealth is estimated at a million or more

^ It doesn't say someone "attempting", "trying", or "building up" a million dollars. It says someone who HAS a million dollars.

One more time for good measure:

                                          im·mi·grant noun \ˈi-mə-grənt\
: one that immigrates: as a : a person who comes to a country to take up permanent residence

Try reading it slowly. It might sink in that way.

In order to "take up" on permanent residency it has to granted first. Simply crossing the border illegally or coming on visitors visa does not grant permanent residence.
Here's some reading for you dumb ass.

                                            http://immigration.findlaw.com/visas...isa-types.html

Crossing the boarded via Rio Grande or cargo container does not "give"/"grant" permanent residency.

Now go get on that short bus of yours.

The key isn't the definition of immigrant, but the definition of resident which is:

One who resides in a particular place permanently or for an extended period
So if someone sneaks into this country illegally and lives here their entire life they are still a resident and therefor an illegal immigrant.

A migrant is someone who moves from place to place.

Many illegals come to this country planning on staying and unless they are caught they do just that.

Oh, and on the main subject of the post. I am not shocked. The girlfriend is half Asian and her parents basically told her and her brother and sister to not consider themselves done with school until they had at least a bachelors degree.

A friend of mine had an exchange student from China stay with them and she was telling us how high school there is basically just a prep school for college and how it is competitive to get into any school you want so you buckle down and work hard so you can get into the right school and get to study something you are interested in.

Nope. The definition of residence does not state anything about it being granted:

No, the definition of immigration is obtaining permanent residency form another country. Just because you illegally crossed the border at age 75 and died 5 years later does not make you permanent resident. Every illegal is subject to deportation, thus he/she does not have immigrant status. He is out of status and once deported person becomes blacklisted for 5 or 10 (?) years from entering into US.

Look at it as criminal who's been convicted of crime yet was able to hide out for 20 years. Does it make him innocent?

But that just department of state's definition of immigrant:

Seriously, slow down and just think for a minute.

Here, I can provide you with a question that might snap your mind into realizing the error in your thinking.

Because you say it's "permanent residency", and that because an illegal *might* get deported - they can't be considered "permanent". Therefore, by your logic - you could never be considered an "immigrant" / "permanent resident" until AFTER you were dead. Because if you are still alive there is the possibility of you leaving, moving, or being deported.

So think about that for a second. You're saying even legals can't be called immigrants. Because what if tomorrow they suddenly left?

                                                              Right? Following the logic now?

So if I moved here from another country legally, and planned to stay here forever. Normally I'd be called an immigrant. BUT you're saying just the sheer fact something might happen which would cause me to leave - I can't be called an immigrant. So in order for me to be called an immigrant with your logic I'd have to move someplace, live there all my life, then die. So there would be no doubt that my residency was indeed "permanent".

Now to circle back. An illegal is still an immigrant if they came here to live permanently. Just because they there is a chance they *might* get caught and deported doesn't change the fact they moved here to live permanently. Again, think about that for a second and then reread the definition below.

                                                              im·mi·grant noun \ˈi-mə-grənt\

Let me see your papers Pedrito
