Damn, after watching that, I think in 5 years Microsoft will be a company half it's current size. How can they not know that product is destined to fail? They really need a new CEO. Ballmer has done enough damage.

There are costs associated with Android too, it's not like they just download it and slap it on a device.

How much do you think the licence for Android costs?

Great launch strategy, launch now, finish product later. :1orglaugh

Other companies like to build up hype to a launch date and the reveal their product which will be available at a certain price at a certain (very near or instant) timeframe.

All Microsoft have achieved is to give their competitors six months grace to do something else.

The sad part is they've been trying to sell tablet PCs for about 12 years. And failed. Then they see what Apple do, miss the point totally, and try and combine a laptop and a tablet.

It's sad, they should be able to do it, I'd love to see more competition in the marketplace, but this is what happens with design by committee I guess.

Because it is miles cheaper than licensing windows, and you don't need to make all the magnetic bits you need for the cover to work.

They don't need to design their tablets for the Microsoft touch cover. Asus already made their own keyboard/dock solutions.

Still have to judge the feel by myself, but from the video the touch cover looks like a pretty slick solution to me. Quite a kick in the nuts for competition and rest of announced Windows 8 tablets.

Will see when time comes.
