Do you drip feed your content to members a bit each day or let them have it all at once ?
Question for micro niche / niche site owners

Do you mean, give them 30 scenes one day, and then 30 a week later or something to that effect?
I am assuming you are basically not wanting to give them access to all 1000 scenes on day one, so they can rape it in 30 days. You either want to do a "rolling calendar" where they only have access to 365 (i.e. one per day) at any given time, and the rest falls off and comes back later, or you want to throttle them in some way?

My question could have been phrased better.Do you mean, give them 30 scenes one day, and then 30 a week later or something to that effect?

What I am talking about is when a member joins they get access to a little content, then a day 2 a little more, then day 3 a little more again and so on rather than providing them with a larger chunk and cycling it.Comment

Ah ok, gotcha.
I can see doing that on a trial or promotional membership, where, for their $1.00 they get access to only 30 scenes. After that, they need to upgrade. But I think many of the sites who do something like that do the rolling calendar more so. However, I do recall someone else talking about what you are explaining a few years back. I can't recall if that was a small program owner or who off the top of my head.
The basically were wanting/doing some form of staggered system to try and milk a few months of membership.Comment

You're right it has been brought up by others as an idea, I was just interested if anyone was actually doing it.Comment

I know Mike South had a post the other day on a similar topic, I wanna say it was on XBIZ versus here though. He did something along the lines of.... they would have access for 30 days, and then those would be archived again, and next 30 days have access to something else.
I would point you in that direction for the time being. He said he was successful with it.Comment

What you describe is known as rotating content. That was acceptable till about 10 years ago. If you do it now, your member will go lookup your "hidden" content on Google (edit: filelockers, tubes, torrents etc), so basically you're chasing them away to piracy sites rather than keeping them.I know Mike South had a post the other day on a similar topic, I wanna say it was on XBIZ versus here though. What I learned works best is to give them access to ALL your old existing content and you give them something new at least 3 times a week. Can be a photo series, a 5 minute clip or a 2 hour movie.
If it's a totally new website with total new content you don't add everything at once, but bit by bit, at least 3 times per week. If you give them everything at once and you don't give them small bits after that, they'll unsubscribe.
Always treat your members as porn addicts. Always make sure they have something to chew on but don't let them choke on it

Many factors to make the decision ...
- How much content is already produced?
- Will more content be made? This is hard to determine early since it's unclear if it will make enough sales to continue production
- What is your sales model: recurring membership vs sales per clip
- How are you depending on sales? Most quality affiliates need fresh new content. Review affiliates keep track of this. If you are rotating content they will notice and sales will drop
- How much real competition is in the niche? People mention micro niche often yet some micro niches aren't that small and have plenty of competition
If you have a very small cache of content and are doing a membership style site you can start small, maybe 10 videos and update every 2 weeks. Without knowing how much content you have it's just pulling numbers out of my ass. When I started LadyboyPussy it originally had 50 videos with matching photo sets, with a 1 year buffer with weekly updates. It's a membership site that relies on sales w/rebills. And heavy on continued affiliate promotion. The buffer gave plenty of time to see if it was worth continuing shooting, which it ended up being.
If you're able to make daily updates then it can't be a micro niche. Unless you're breaking up a photo set / video into multiple parts to give to members a little at a time. If it's truly rare and quality fans understand that and are happy with new content on a schedule. Just don't lie to them about when updates are. If it's every week, once every 2 weeks, 1x a month, whatever just be up front about it.ISLAND DOLLARS
