My best site is doing about 5k uniques a month now. I haven't updated it in months. 5K is alot to me. It's nothing for most of you. Here is the question. Do I update it and try to push it higher or leave it as is? Just a blog.

Well done with that beks001, there's no right or wrong answer. Perhaps you can try updating it for a couple of months and see if the traffic/sales increase, then work out if the extra updating time would be worth it or if you'd be better off creating more sitesComment

At the very least I would keep adding entries. Try to get really fast at it so that it will only take you a few minutes.
It's hard to say if it's best to keep improving or build another. I'm assuming your traffic is SE based - are you in the top page for the keywords you want to place for? Going to do 1 a day I think to see what happens.
I think I'm maybe getting about 100 a day from serps on it. Not ranking for many keywords since I checked analytics it looks like only about 1500. I don't really try to rank for any to be honest. I just do natural posts and updates with no kw research or anything. Just trying to determine what is the best approach to this as it is not making me much $$ now but could likely be in the future if I play it out right maybe...

Keyword research should be your best friend. You will convert so much better if you target niche long tail keywords and rank for them. There are so many good keyword research tools out there now that will make your job easier for you. I used to use Market Samurai but it's too damn slow now, and I currently use Long Tail Pro and it's fucking phenomenal. I believe they are offering a 10 day free trial so you should give it a shot. Keyword Scout is another good one and there are a handful of others that work well.
You'll make a lot more sales on less traffic if you find good niches and target your keywords. Just my
