Is there any way to get mobile traffic from seo? Or do you just build a site and hope people come from mobile devices?

I think the best way is the "real" way.
Build a site that people enjoy. Then they will naturally use their mobile devices to visit as well.

I don't go to any site just because it's "mobile". I go to the same exact sites on my phone that I do on my computer.

Hope that makes sense.

Couldn't have said it better. I might add that you should always make sure your sites are optimized for bandwidth consumption, but again that's not specific to mobile.
