I passed it to my daughters. Since I was 5 I collected any and everything. Not sure if it's in the genes or is copied behaviour from a parent, but mine didn't collect anything. My family collects sports memorabilia. My son loves it and is always selling and buying new cards with his own money. We keep everything organized and currently priced. We have a master collection and he has his own built from duplicate cards and items. I think it helps teach him the value of things and how to keep an eye on the market.Comment

I have a WW2 Soviet rifle used by tank crews. It's in perfect condition, never used. I was told that they were put in barrels of grease after the war and set in them for 50 years until someone thought to take them out and sell them. I've got an obsession with collecting all kinds of porn movies on my several hard drives.
Actually I try to keep things simple and not get caught up in the collection thing if it can be helped. It's not really in me too much.

Speaking of Hard Rock, I'm a Charter Member of the "Pinhead Club" Bought my first HRC pin around age 12 and have a small collection of almost 12k pins. Probably over 150 HRC T-Shirts. Spent enough money to earn myself 7 free leather jackets and a shit ton of free HRC merchandise and cafe credits.
I also have a collection of Jack Daniels bottles and memorabilia worth 10's of thousands.
2 complete sets of the 15 original Garbage Pail Kids series. Collected those in middle school. Turns out they aren't really worth much.

My mom is a major pack rat. She doesn't collect anything specific, but she does seem to keep anything and everything she has ever bought so she has a ton of stuff that she hasn't seen or used in years (stored in boxes) but she won't get rid of it because she has convinced herself that one day she will use it. She passed that on to my brother who now does the same thing, but I have seemed to have gone the exact opposite way and I want to own as little as possible.Comment

I used to have a TON of pins. When they cut all of our postions, one of the things they did was buy out all of our pins. I used to off my Opening Staff pins to a collector who'd pay about $500 per pin at that point.
