What was your biggest noob mistake in this business

I know, we've had similar threads before but it's always fun to read them.

Mine prob was when i just entered this industry. 10, 12 years ago or so?
I had my first paysite running, no clue about servers, BW, traffic, etc.
I submitted a "gallery" The Hun. It was just a bunch of clickable pictures that were part of my tour.
Within minutes after getting listed i could smell the smoke coming out of my Raq3 server through my screen
I quickly uploaded the full sized pics to Geocities and hotlinked the thumbs from my server. And honestly, i had no clue this was wrong. I didn't try to screw anyone over, i was just keeping my server alive
Obviously my gallery got removed pretty soon after that and i got banned from The Hun.

I sent him an email explaining i truly didn't do this just to leech someone else's BW and Patrick unbanned me right away...how cool is that :D

Launching mobile too early: Had done mobile porn site + applications in 2003: custom photos of sinerian girls with phones used as toys, all over color wap + java midlets for motorola's and nokia's (someone remember "j2me" apps?), billing via SMS texts only (was no any Apple or Google stores...), submitted galls on thehun etc... in fact I made this GFY account just to hire someone helping for tgp submissions.
Made really small sales - I had to focus on cams instead - at least sold mobile domains years later for $X,XXX and still own "videomobile.com" and bunch of these.

Not saying adult mobile brings serious sales today yet... does it?

Yup, but back then you didn't realize how big certain things were gonna be.

I used to put a Topbucks banner on top of my site and convert it 1 in 60-100 @ 35 dollahs. It made me shitloads but i wasn't smart enough to exploit it. I thought that would go on forever. It didn't.

Biggest mistake I made was not working harder back when money was super easy to make. The money just came so fast that it was easy to slack and still make a lot of money with very little effort.

Second regret was not getting in on the shemale market early on. I was already around all the ladyboys in Thailand and could have been making a killing with them. Instead I was having fun and shooting girls while other guys cleaned house in the shemale niche back before most people even knew what a shemale was.

I left the business for almost two years in 2002. At the time I had a pay site up and some very nice domains which I let go. Another mistake was not working smart but only working hard.

The "ex gf" site i had btw had none of those words in the title. Once i started promoting it on The Hun and World Sex etc people started to copy it real fast. Also because i had a bunch of affiliates who found out that it converted like crazy.

Mine was back in 2001 when I learned about click cash I was shooting my own pic's and had her hold a sign up for Patrick at the Hun my first week on my first gallery made over $4k I was so freaking happy and first thing I did was come here and opened my mouth and spilled the beans on how I was doing this and how I did that, what was working on my clicked through etc.. I had unique content at the time which was great back then no one else had this type on the Hun and I blew it right there and then... in the weeks that followed everyone in there brother was doing the same damn thing... lol LESSON learned the hard way

By the time i closed my site people copied it and started using social media pictures.

You are partly right though when it comes to the really early shit. I think the last site who had content like that was SweetApples. After that it was completely quiet for a few years still i launched my site. But that was years before the social media/ex gf thing.

Anyway, you don't have to believe me...if you think i'm just saying this to sound important, that's fine with me.

I'm not afraid, but cautious. I made a living shooting in places like Cuba, Dominican Republic, Colombia, Brazil, and so on waaaay back before people were shooting in those places, so working in Thailand was just another country for me. It just so happened the content paid better than the Latin content did so that is where I put down roots and the place grew on me. This is how I got my foot into the DVD industry, which at that time was pretty closed off to most outsiders. It was more or less myself and TT Boy shooting in these places, so it was easy to sell product to studios or get distribution deals with them.

About the ladyboys being rough, yea, some of them are. But at least here none of them have ever tried to stab me or anything like in Colombia. Though, I don't shoot the rough ones anyway. Bar girls are also hit and miss. I've known some real sweethearts who have nursed me while I was ill, and some real cunts who I've had to call the police on to get her out of my room. Girls are girls no matter where they are from. Flip a coin, never know what you're gonna get.

However, the people are not scum. They can be hard and they have a different view on life, but there are some really good people here. Sure, there is scum here (not just myself ) as there is everywhere in the world, but they are the minority and that is what makes the headlines. The bad people tend to migrate to the tourist areas, so it's easy for tourists to get the impression that the locals are all bad, but that's not the case. Some areas are worse than others, such as Pattaya for example. That is pretty much ground zero for both western and local shit bags. Some decent people there, but they are in the minority in that city. There are a lot of really awesome places here where you don't have to deal with scum bags, local or foreign.
