    My nephew just got owned by Facebook

    My nephew is 18 years old and sadly he is a little scumbag. He was arrested about 6 times as a minor and he has already been arrested twice in the nine months since turning 18.

    So everyone is on him about getting a job. Even his friends are telling him they are sick of paying his way. He applied for a job working at a local grocery store. The manager talked to him for a minute when he turned in the application and told him that he would look the app over and get back to him in a few days. He never contacted him so my nephew called the store to talk to the manager. He was then told by the manager that he chose not to interview him because he did a search for his name and found his Facebook. On it he has pics of him smoking weed and posing with booze bottles. There are even pics of him drinking beer and there are several pictures and wall postings of him and his friends (all white boys) calling each other N----er. The guy told him they don't want a person like that working at their store.

    I knew the kid was a fuck up and not very bright, but to post actual pictures of yourself breaking laws is just plain idiotic.

                          It is a very long story. The short version of it is that his mom refused to discipline him. He did whatever he wanted growing up and not only did she let him when he got in trouble or caused problems both she and her mom (the boys grandma) would rush to his defense with a million excuses for him.

                          My brother tried to discipline him, but his wife would never follow through with it so all it really did was make the boy hate my brother and drive them apart. The boy's behavior eventually led to my brother leaving his wife and now they are getting divorced (it s a long time coming).

                                  facebook is really becoming a liability for most people. you can be charged for things you say on it, fired for things you say on it, etc, etc. i'd never have one personally. its like leaving a personal diary lying around for anyone to read.

                                                                  So here is something that is so sad it is laughable.

                                                                  About a year ago he and a buddy were going to join the Marines. He had been arrested a few times and had legal issues, but the recruiter told him that if he had all those cleared up by the time he turned 18 it would be fine.

                                                                  So he takes the ASVAB test and scores so badly that they wouldn't take him. The recruiter actually thought he was messing with him and trying to score badly. The recruiter told him where to go in order to get a study guide and what to study so he could take it again in a few months and improve his score. Of course that never happened. We are finding out now that his mom did all his homework for him and he is basically 18 years old and he reads and writes at about a 5th grade level.

                                                                  He was told he could still likely go in the Army and either be infantry or do some real basic task if he could get his score up just a few points, but he has now decided he doesn't want to do that so short of a judge forcing him (which may well happen) he won't be going in the military any time soon.

                                                                  I hate to say it, but the reality is that he will likely end up in jail actually doing some time in the next few years. He smokes weed every day and yet has no money. His mom has been giving him money, but now that the divorce is happening that source is gone. Most of his friends are sick of him because he has no job and is always "borrowing" money so they have cut him off. That leaves him with committing crimes to get cash. I won't be shocked to seem him locked up for some crime related to that in the not too far off future.

                                                                      It really amazes me what people put on it. I have one just to keep in touch with a few friends that live out of state. One of the guys I talk to's wife has a page and she literally posts about 30 times per day. She gives you every moment of her day with a play by play of what she is doing. It is crazy.

                                                                              You are correct in that people need to take care of their own lives. the problem with this kid is that all he wants to do is sit around, smoke weed and play video games. That doesn't get you too far. He has no drive, no ambition and no desire to do anything.

                                                                              He is learning one thing though. All of his friends that are his age or a little older are doing what typical 18-20 year olds do. They are getting jobs, going to school and moving on with their lives. They have pretty much stopped hanging out with them because they know if they invite him somewhere they will have to go pick him up and take him home (he has no license or car) and they will have to pay for him since he has no money. So now he claims he wants to get a job, but so many jobs drug test he can't pass that and with the economy slacking many people aren't going to hire a guy who has been arrested, never worked and dresses like a mope.

                                                                                      This one started off fine. Then about two years into the marriage the place she was working part time at went out of business and she lost her job. At that point she basically just gave up on working.That was also when the boy turned 5 and started testing her (as well as going to school) and she just rolled over.

                                                                                                                                              My son's mother and her mother did the same f'ing thing with my boy for 6 years and wondered why he was kicked out of every daycare he's been at then stuffed in a rubber-room by grade 1 and kicked off the schoolbus.

                                                                                                                                              He has ZERO consequences. He can hit, bite, beat, torture, hurt and threaten anyone he wants. He was more-or-less rewarded.

                                                                                                                                              It all finally came crumbling down when within a week he spit in his mothers face (got rewarded by pizza in the park to calm him down) and had social services step in to put an end to his schoolyard behaviour.

                                                                                                                                              Now they have him classified as ODD (Opositional Defiance Disorder), have full-time nanny/assistant in class with him so he doesnt act up and so he actually does his work and has "nintendo" time when he feels he is about to freak out.

                                                                                                                                              The boy has NO sense of responsibility, wants to kill everyone who disagrees with him and takes 30 minutes to get shoes on for school. HE calls the shots everywhere he goes.


                                                                                                                                              Except here. he is a perfect angel here, knows what's expected and very very rarely does anything wrong at all. So I asked him why he does all this stuff....his answer? "Because you and Crystal (my new wifey) won't put up with anything and will give me time-outs).

                                                                                                                                              Even with that being said to mother... answer is always "well you aren't always here, he'd do it to you eventually too if you had him full-time" and "he's sad, he has ODD". Always an excuse...

                                                                                                                                              No he does not have ODD... he just always got to do whatever he wanted when he wanted and now in real life, he can't cope or deal with doing the most minute thing he doesn't want to do,, including school and not hitting people. Now they want to classify him as autism spectrum.. they told him.. so now his excuse is "I have autism, I cant help it".


                                                                                                                                              Drives me nuts... pretty soon in process to do something about it. Next mental breakdown she takes.. which happens very often.. I'm going for custody.

                                                                                                                                                          That all sounds very familiar. My nephew, when he was a freshman in high school had a friend who had been arrested and was on some kind of probation. As part of this probation he was not allowed to leave the school campus for lunch, but he did anyway. One day he got caught. So instead of facing the music he talks my nephew and another friend into helping him "get out of town." So they left school at lunch, took this guy's mom's car and started driving to Los Angeles (1000 miles away). Apparently this kid had a friend that had recently moved there so he decided they would go live with him.

                                                                                                                                                          So the kid's mom comes home from work and sees the car is gone so she reports it stolen then a few hours later when he son doesn't come home from school she realizes that he took it. After several hours the three families of these boys have talked to each other and the police and have realized what is happening. Eventually, around 9pm, my nephew calls him mom. The boys made it about 50 miles away before being stopped by the police because the car was still reported as stolen. The cops released him to her and she went to get him.

                                                                                                                                                          Instead of kicking his ass, grounding him or doing any kind of discipline, she took him out to dinner (because he was scared and hungry) then took him over to another friend's house where they played video games for a few hours until they knew my brother was asleep so they could avoid dealing with him because he was rightfully pissed off.

                                                                                                                                                          When asked about it she defends him and says he was just trying to help a friend so not only did he not get in trouble, she made it out like he had done something good. It is just crazy.

                                                                                                                                                                          So the kid's mom comes home from work and sees the car is gone so she reports it stolen then a few hours later when he son doesn't come home from school she realizes that he took it. After several hours the three families of these boys have talked to each other and the police and have realized what is happening. Eventually, around 9pm, my nephew calls him mom. The boys made it about 50 miles away before being stopped by the police because the car was still reported as stolen. The cops released him to her and she went to get him.

                                                                                                                                                                          Instead of kicking his ass, grounding him or doing any kind of discipline, she took him out to dinner (because he was scared and hungry) then took him over to another friend's house where they played video games for a few hours until they knew my brother was asleep so they could avoid dealing with him because he was rightfully pissed off.

                                                                                                                                                                          When asked about it she defends him and says he was just trying to help a friend so not only did he not get in trouble, she made it out like he had done something good. It is just crazy.
                                                                                                                                                                          Unreal.... sadly.. msot parents are like this now. Their children can never do any harm.

Get involved with stealing a car... I'd ground the little fucker for a very very long time.

                                                                                                                                                                                  I do, but I don't think it is very common. I think the way it works now is that if you are young enough your lawyer might cut a deal for you that says if you join the military you will get a reduced charge or even have the charges dropped.

                                                                                                                                                                                  A friend of mine that was in the Marines from 89-93 said there were a couple of guys he knew who were there so that they could avoid going to jail.
