Charge them more for it. I hate clients that expect a bunch of extra free work because they change their minds about something or want something new added but dont want to pay for it.

yeah we are already over budget

they are dangling several projects worth over 100k in front of us the whole time.
i think i need to explain to them that based on our earlier projects with them, we will probably just break even on the larger ones also..and say adieu

Just charge them 20-30% more on the larger project(s). I can only imagine all the things they'll think of and want included in a larger project. The extra $ should create a comfortable buffer.

he has a point....but the issue is i think the more i charge the more this client would micro manage and occupy time to make sure they felt like they "win". They have huge pockets and are a very large company.

i receive daily emails with a list of changes from them.
they basically paid for 3 months work...pushed it way longer...i am now paying out of my own pocket to finish their project.

could also be my fault for being so accommodating as well.

Perfect! You're probably one of those idiots who expects a bunch of additional features and changes that go way beyond the price that the quote was based on. If you want additional work or changes done then it'll cost additional money.

Those are the type of customers I tend to dislike. They have deep pockets but if they're not paying for the amount of work being done because of all the 'extras' then why bother.

I'd lay it out and tell them that the project has gone beyond what the original quote was for and that you have expenses related to their project and all the extras that need to be covered. If they're happy with your work they'll understand and won't have an issue with it.
