Personally to me it works faster than Gingerbread. Actually it was the only reason I did upgrade.

Yes I know what you mean Actually my smartphone is not just a phone. It's my real personal computer which does a lot of other tasks. If I will wait for a new version, I never buy it, because there always will be something newer.

rooting is such a pain in the ass, keep reading about people with issues running rooted roms. Plus i'm using the T-Mobile USA version of the GSII which has a different radio and processor

i'm not even sure I want to upgrade my GSII to Ice Cream Sandwich, my upgrade from 2.1 to 2.2 on my other phone got me tons of bugs that were never addressed by T-Mobile or Samsung

Who cares about the S2 after today. I was about to upgrade a few weeks back and am very glad that I held off.

That said I will have mine on day one and it will be rooted as soon as possible. Fuck the carrier branded OS bullshit that comes loaded on it.

                                Spend you some brain.

Can't agree on that. I always root all my android devices and have no problems with them. The only un-rooted one is SGSII because its running IGS. However, its also was rooted when the OS wasn't upgraded yet.

Actually I'm still not sure if I need a mobile phone with a quad-core CPU. My working desktop PC has only 2 cores

and in answer to op, i didn't root it, i waited for my network to supply ics.

Haven't tried to root it but installed Nova Launcher after upgrading to ICS and so far I'm satisfied with it.
