The 19-year-old daughter of rocker Jon Bon Jovi was arrested after allegedly overdosing on heroin
Stephanie Rose Bongiovi was arrested early Wednesday morning, after cops responded to a dorm room at Hamilton College, in upstate New York, where a female had allegedly overdosed on heroin and was unresponsive. Volunteer medical personnel were already at the scene when police arrived.
Bongiovi was one of two college students arrested after a small amount of heroin was found at the scene.
The singer’s daughter was arrested on misdemeanor charges including possession of a controlled substance, possession of marijuana and criminally using drug paraphernalia.
Bongiovi, who is currently at a hospital recovering, was eventually released from custody and will appear in court at a later date.
The college gave details about the charges in a statement sent to FOX 411, noting the school is assisting police with the ongoing investigation.
“On Wednesday, Nov. 14, 2012, members of the Kirkland Police Department arrested two Hamilton College students. One was charged with possession of a controlled substance, 7th degree, and the second was charged with possession of marijuana, possession of a controlled substance, 7th degree and possession of drug paraphernalia," the statement said. "All are misdemeanors. In addition to violating state law, the actions alleged to have been committed by the students violate Hamilton College policy. The college is cooperating with the police investigation."
Bongiovi is the only daughter of the “It’s My Life” singer, and is his oldest child with wife Hurley.

access to prescription drugs like oxy, etc has alot to do with heroin use, esp. amongst younger people
they start off using pills and then switch over to heroin when they get hooked because the latter is far cheaper. Prescription drugs are heavily implicated in heroin addiction because popping a pill is more socially acceptable than injecting. Pills don't have the same 'junkie' stigma. I've never used heroin...but I've read a lot about it.
It was perfectly legal when it first came out. It was actually created by the people who make Bayer aspirin. And it was sold worldwide for years. Pretty interesting...and as usual, once it was made illegal, the use of it increased:
"The Bayer Company started the production of heroin in 1898 on a commercial scale. The first clinical results were so promising that heroin was considered a wonder drug. Indeed, heroin was more effective than codeine in respiratory diseases.
It has turned out, however, that repeated administration of heroin results in the development of tolerance and the patients become heroin-addicts soon. In the early 1910s morphine addicts "discovered" the euphorising properties of heroin and this effect was enhanced by intravenous administration. Has anyone here ever done it? Everything I've read about it says that the feeling of Euphoria is so intense that nothing can match it. Read Keith Richard's book "Life". He kinda explained how the people he knew had died from heroin.
He said that it usually happened when they got "clean".
They would do heroin for a long time and build up a tolerance to it. Then they would get "clean" and kick it.
But inevitably they would have a backsliding moment when they would decide to do it "one more time" for fun.
Then they would take the same dosage they did before.
Only now their bodies no longer had the tolerance for it and they overdosed.

My brother is currently homeless and a heroin addict. For him and many people it starts as an Oxycontin addiction. It then progresses from taking the pills to smoking them, to eventually snorting a mixture of heroin and water. Finally shooting up. It's sad really. Yeah, I see more and more people addicted to prescription drugs. It's a nightmare.
The doctors will prescribe that shit like it's candy (dentists too).
You shouldn't take a painkiller like oxy or Vicodin, etc. for more than a few days.
But if you go to the doctor, they will give you a 30 day supply with 3 or 4 refills!
Basically they are drug pushers for the pharmaceutical companies.
I had a bad auto accident in 2002 and had my neck and both arms broken. Spent a month in the hospital in ICU and a week of that awake with a morphine drip.
The day I got out of the hospital they gave me a big prescription of pain killers...3 months worth!!!
I threw the prescription away without ever filling it. I needed to be alert and get back to business (I had an employee do the typing for me at the office because both arms were in casts).
I had to have a clear mind.
But if I had taken that prescription and all those pills for months...I would have ended up addicted.-Robbie

Here's a hint: The cocaine will make your tongue go numb (that's why it was used in dentistry for years and years)
And my point was that anybody who is going to spend money on something should make sure of what they are getting.
I wouldn't buy anything site unseen...a guy buying pot would smell the pot and look at the texture, etc.
A guy buying a powdered drug would taste it at least before handing over the money.

I would not fully agree with this statement half i think is true but the other half isn't, I will explain here.
People mix heroin to make it weigh more like the guys selling it the more crap they mix it with the heavier it is and the more money they can get for a smaller amount of the actual drug.
When snorting heroin they are snorting all the crap like the rat poison you mentioned, but on the other hand when injecting heroin they put the heroin on a spoon and burn it this results in the crappy stuff being burned away and only leaving the purer heroin as it does not burn away as quickly as the crap they have "chopped" it with, when burning they use something like Lemon juice to help break down the heroin, they also normally suck it into the needle via a cigarette filter or something to again filter out any of the crap.
So as silly as it sounds when "snorting/sniffing" heroin it is actually more dangerous as in with regards as you do not know what you are actually putting into your body, it is actually cleaner for the user to inject. All in all most users end up messed up as they do not do it in a clean way and they share needles etc and a lot of the time they are in such a rush to get there next "hit" they can actually ruin their bodies by not preparing it correctly or by the simple fact that are injecting into parts of their body like the groin etc where needles simply shouldn't be used but the user is left with no choice as their Veins are all fucked up and collasped.
I have heard of guys that have had to inject themselves with Rat poison (Warfarin) to thin their blood where they have blood clots from the reason explained above.
All said and done it is a evil drug and responsible for thousands of deaths and crimes daily..
They are finding better drugs to combat the addiction now, methadone to a user is just free heroin and will never be a proper medicine as most users will use the methadone and still get heroin too,Affiliate ManagerComment
