FRANCE PM-SHITROCK tells Nato Fuck off!

I can't believe this shit...the french are at it again...this time, French P.M. "Shitrock" Vetos the U.S.' request that Nato begin planning for defense of Turkey in case Saddam decides to attack. (This is what the fundamental principles of Nato are founded upon...and by refuting this basic ideal he is threating to make NATO an obsolute union much like the UN is becoming)

In my opinion, I think we should stop indulging the French with all these special priviledges (such as allowing them to have veto power of NATO Military poilcy when they have no military role and never have had a military role in NATO policies to begin with) I mean this is common sense...protect an ally.

I think we'll see the rest of NATO and hopefully the rest of the world tell France to Shove off!

I'd love to hear your thoughts on this one.

Everyone is trying to protect their vested interests in Iraq. France has billions of dollars of business deals with Saddam, like Russia does and they don't want to get their deals fucked up.

This whole thing is like a real life worldwide monopoly game.

You can't blame these countries for wanting to protect their investments. We do the same thing.

The UN have to give the OK for the war before giving the OK to protect someone from SADAM

Have you ever heard the arguments of the french, germans, ... heard some journalists, experts from other countries, like canada, even england.... or do you only watch CNN ?
CNN, abc, nbc... are not really considered good critics especially when it comes to subjects that involve patriotism.... even the democrates sometimes are afraid to speak their minds....

I think you, as well as the rest of the people here have missed the point. It's got nothing to do with the UN or USA Patriotic rhetoric...

the situation involves NATO and a priviledged memebr France saying that they do not want NATO to start PLANNING for the defense of a NATO ALLY (Turkey). NATO's treaty is predicated on the fact that if one NATO ally needs assistance then NATO is obligated to assist.

What I find strange is that France has never even been involved in any of the Miliatry policies regarding NATO (so it won't affect them militarily) and that this is the FIRST time that this has happened to a NATO ALLY.

This has nothing to do with the US, Patriotism, Nationalism, Democrats, Republican, CNN, NBC, ABC or the like....it has to do with upholding a treaty...a treaty based upon mutual assistance.

I'm guessing that you're just dying to put some more spin on anything I say because I'm a Republican

Well said Krl,

that is what this is all about, Economic Interest - plain and simple.

If this was another 3rd world African country, France would of already had there soldiers there..

Sad, but it's reality. Oh and plus local french politics says france is not with us in the war.

But what gives France the moral authority to veto NATO? Economic interests?

Todd,

You're right...but why won't they support a treaty that they are supposedly bound by? Ethically and morally they should rally to protect an allybut have summarily decided not to even plann for this eventuality.

which as I mentioned has never happened before within NATO.

And I agree with you that its most likely economically driven but that still doesn't make it right. My guess is that we'll see NATO get around this and do it anyway.

Lay off the diet coke. Aspartame leads to mental retardation. But I can see it's too late anyway.
