#2. It looks intentional until you realize that he wasn't really looking at the guy he elbowed. He knew the guy was there because they were sort of pushing past each other, but that contact happened so soon after the dunk that one of two things happened... World Peace made a snap decision to clobber that guy, or he was just way too fired up and got rough in the process of clearing himself of the other guy's body.
And look at his "who, me?" reaction when the other team's players start to converge on him. I actually think it looks genuine, but yeah these guys are trained actors what with all the flopping & whatnot.
Anyway, I can see how it's easy to conclude that World Peace was on the attack because of how it looks in slow-mo, but if you watch the real-time replay and pay attention to the timing you might change your mind.
I think WP deserves to be disciplined, but kicking him out of the league... or even kicking him out for the rest of the season... might be a bit much.

Not a joke. It was probably the hardest elbow you'll ever see, but you don't see a lot of no-look elbow attacks. If he really wanted to lay into the guy I think he would have turned to look at him first. You know, to aim.

It was intentional. Firstly he followed thru with the elbow. Secondly if it was a mistake why didn't he stop to check on harden?

Dude stop, please.
Have you ever practiced a sport? What you say makes absolutely no sense!
If I were World Peace's attorney, I'd plea the charge down from murder to manslaughter. What I mean is he knew he was throwing his arm back as a kind of way to say "get off me", but his intent wasn't to throw the elbow into the guy's head and give him a concussion.
Why didn't he stop to see if Harden was ok? Probably because he didn't even realize what he did. From the real-time wide shot the hit didn't look that bad, at least not until Harden hit the floor.

Dude... It's obvious you have no clue about who Ron Artest is.
Posting to promote the business in your sig is OK. But nonsense like this will mostly hurt that business instead of helping...

Haha I'm not defending Artest to get my sig out there, I'm just saying I disagree that it's 100% intentional. Worth punishing? Yes. Was the intent egregious enough to end his season? I'm not so sure. And I'm not a basketball scholar but I know who Artest is. I've watched that Pacers vs. Fans brawl many times because it was just that entertaining. And I've been a Bulls fan forever, they're the ones who drafted him.
Anyway, that's it for me here. I disagree with the lynch mob! Let the flaming commence.
He should be charged with assault as well.
Seems black athletes do not ever get criminally charged for intentional crimes against others. It's total bullshit!
Mike Tyson bit a fucking dudes ear off..! WTF..!?!?

Ok, I guess we'll have to agree to disagree! But hear this... Metta World Peace is a sweet, gentle man!
My prediction: Hefty fine from the league and a 15-20 game suspension that bridges this season (incl. playoffs) and next. If they suspend him for the entirety of 2012-13 then that would be the manifestation of an unofficial 3-strikes rule. No first-time offender would get that kind of punishment, but it wouldn't totally shock me if World Peace does.

The video is not available anymore due to a copyright claim by NBA. Anyway, basketball can be a high contact sport sometimes. It could hurt if they hit with knees or elbows. Should he be ejected or not? The referees can take a closer slow-motion look into what really happened.
