    Shaving. How stupid do you think we are?

    So I send 100,000 popunders to a certain dating program one month (actually half the month) and get let's say 100 free joins from it.

    Then the next month (full month) I send 200,000 popunders from the same site with the same traffic sources and it gets 105 free joins.

    Thanks anyway guys. I'll just send it to a broker instead. Please quit with the bullshit and just be honest.

      With the same site and same traffic sources, buy #2 likely worked much more towards increasing the frequency than it did towards expanding the reach and reach is what you want for a free join pps type program unless you really just want to remind a bunch of your prior free joins about the dating site they signed up for a month earlier.

          No I edited the post some shortly after posting it. The first month was for a little under 15 days. The second a full month. No traffic buys are involved. It's mostly organic traffic. The program doesn't pay me based on frees but when it seems someone is shaving free joins that tells me they aren't honest and that I can't trust them. They probably shave paid joins too. Shaving hits and frees is sometimes done in order to prevent it from becoming obvious that you are shaving paid joins. It makes things look better to the affiliate if he goes strictly by their stats alone.

              Only one way to test it, get a few people to follow the route, sign up and watch the joins in your stats. going to cost you a couple of $100. Then bring the stats here and ask for an explanation stating facts, figures, emails, login/passes and email confirmations.

              Or better still go back to them and offer to sell the info. They would probably buy it to stop the drama. It's like sending a pirate a letter asking for payment. ;)

                          Bingo. High frequency is great for building brand awareness but pretty much useless fo impulse buys.

                          Other things to consider are the overall exposure of the sponsor and rate of growth.

                                  This particular site of theirs isn't oversaturated although the sponsor itself is. I'm fairly sure I know what is going on already. I've noticed funny things in the past this is just the latest. I wish it weren't the case because it's a great match for the site but if they aren't going to be honest and give me my cut there isn't much I can do. I can't work with them under those terms.

                                      It's an idea. I'm not into the blackmail part but it would be interesting. I'll have to think about it some more and decide.

                                                      It happened to me when I hired developers for some programs to develop they asked me "what's the shaving features you need". I not even understood what they talk about the first minute, then I figured, and I said no need of shave control panel to be done as I don't shave. It seemed to me developers was amazed enough like I am the first customer who not needs it?

                                                                      now you tell me this.. so?

                                                                              It is my opinion that many dating and cams sponsors do shave in one way or another. If you want to get an idea of who shaves before trying them listen to the black hats. They know because of the shady stuff they often do who is shaving them and who isn't. In dating and cams I have found the biggest challenge is finding a sponsor who doesn't shave or shaves lightly. Sometimes a good sponsor will turn bad for some reason or try to play games and you have to switch things out.

                                                                              But I've found usually a sponsor who shaves is much like a wild animal such as a lion who gets its first taste of human blood after killing a jogger. It'll do it again unless you shoot it. These popunders are going to a broker now who will pay me more. The trust is gone.

                                                                                      What are the facts? Simple.

                                                                                      My traffic converts at 1:250 with any good paysite I tried.

                                                                                      However the same traffic didn't convert with any CAM sponsor I tried.

                                                                                      Between 0:10,000 - 0:15,000 before I stopped sending traffic.

                                                                                      And someone telling me: "Well, your traffic convert with paysites, but don't convert with CAMS", is definitely FULL OF SHIT.

                                                                                              No bullshit here. Just straight talk. The best cam sponsor I ever had was Chaturbate on their $1 PPL before they removed the program. For some time I was doing $10-$13 ecpm (impressions). That traffic doing that was all clicked traffic from sources where people clicked on a text link with "cams" or "webcams" on it and some search engine. No one else came near that but DTI Cash and Cams.com did okay for a while. From porn traffic coming from a tube, tgp or blog I was always lucky to do $3 ecpm on that.

                                                                                              I'd say If you can't convert cams and you have traffic for it don't be afraid to send it to a broker if you feel your sponsors aren't paying you enough. You can get anywhere from 3-$5 cpm for it. Start building your sites so where possible you can swap out sponsors and content out quickly if they don't convert. Best advice I can give you.

I once did a lot of research and found quite a few messages saying the same thing both on and off various adult boards. Many from developers admitting the same. There are many messages like yours which turn up in Google on various boards. I actually went to school to be a programmer in my younger years so I'm all too familiar with what is possible as far as shavers. I guess that might be one of the reasons I tend to jump ship fairly quickly once I smell smoke. I look at shaving as stealing food off my family's table so I don't have very much respect or trust for people doing it. I think they belong in prison for fraud.
