I'm all for it too. But it will never happen. When a country needs it's military, it needs to be there AND be ready to fight - not like during WWII when the US wasn't ready and had to train and gear it up it's military.

We do need to slim down, however. We have bases all around the world, and frankly, we don't need them all.

Absolutely, using debt, this is former Economic Hitman John Perkins, he explains in detail

Yeah WW II made us look like shit! I would love to have seen what would have happened if we didn't get into the war. Where the fuck are your history books printed LOL? :1orglaug

The irony is they DO have WMDs and we (the west) have chosen to pretty much ignore them.

The UN is a waste of time, space and money - They will talk about it for a while and then condemn them. OH NO!! - Its the international equivalent of Rothstein calling you an idiot on GFY.

I genuinely think that we (in the west) for all it MANY MANY faults are closest to getting 'it' right. If we go in unilaterally to point them in the right direction and to protect our interests then I am all for it.

They have WMD's on themselves, Let them use them and then lets see China actually do something for once in their existance.

They are no threat to us unless you are a Republican.

It would be nice to see China slap them down a peg to two that's for sure.

I forgot to mention the plight of millions of N Koreans - We have an obligation to them as fellow humans to protect them from abuse.

You know we really actually don't. If you want to think we do you're more left than I am.

Women in Africa are being raped by bayonets and extras everyday. Why should we care about the North Koreans?

The fucking Arabs stood up for themselves recently and I would far better support them.

I don't really get this US supporting everyone bullshit. 200 years ago we fucking fought our suppressors and kicked their fucking ass. Sure France was on our side but only cause they had an interest and a common enemy.

Fucking do something for yourselves or fucking suffer and stop begging like some common bums.

The examples you have given are of people that have the luxury of knowing they have been treated badly.

The N Koreans are pretty unique - they think that what is happening to them is normal.

We are all born ignorant - We are a blank slate that needs to be fed information in order to form opinions - If that information is withheld by the people that control it you are totally controllable.

People deserve the government they get. just like you said..we rose up and kicked our the ass of our oppressor.

They just launched another one. Seems like the first was a decoy.

Are you serious?

Wilbo 04-13-2012 02:54 AM

North Koreans do not rise up because they are taught that the rest of the world is in much worse shape than they are. They're taught from childhood that their "Dear Leader" is almost a God and will look after them and that America is evil. And if it is even suspected that you harbor unpatriotic thoughts you and your entire family are put in a gulag to be worked to death and starved. No outside news gets in and every bit of information they receive is filtered by the government. Until the people can be taught that there is an alternative to the way they live it will be business as usual and no uprisings.

On a side note, I have a Korean friend that thinks that it's hilarious that the term "Gook is seen as derogatory, apparently it's derived from "Han Gook", which simply means "Korean person" in Korea, and became part of the US vernacular after US troops started returning from Korea in the 1950s. They don't find it offensive at all.

The failure of their test is very significant in terms of geopolitics and their continued extortion of others for food, medicine and oil.

Not Koreans in Korea, is my point.

So you mean to tell me if a white guy goes to north korea he can start calling people gooks? I dont think so. Maybe if they are the same race I can understand. Kinda like black people calling each other the N word, then if a white guy says it hes racist?

According to my friend in Korea, If a person asks, "Are you a Han Gook?" The answer would be a proud "Yes", since it simply means "Korean person" and has no bad connotations in the Korean Language. To use your analogy, it would be like asking someone, "Are you an American?", NOT the equivalent of the "N" word, with all of the connotations that that word carries.

Asking someone if they are Han Gook, vs calling them a Gook are two totally different things IMO. But hey whatever works!

in his model it wouldn't be though, would probably be the same as calling you a yank.

I hear what you are saying though, you go into chinatown yelling that you get what you deserve hehe

.:2 cents:

that is because they dont know what you are saying

if you explain to them that you are referring to them as a commonly known derogatory term you might have a heated discussion after that..Koreans are pretty uptight about supporting Korea, and everything Korean.
