i just don't understand how any decent human being would even consider that the solution to this problem is to kill the puppy. You should not have a dog, and I'm not attacking you, you obviously don't have the love for animals a pet owner should have and the blame for the puppy's potty training problems I am sure have way more to do with you than the poor dog. You're not ready for a dog. Thank god it wasn't a kid you were stuck with.
Even if it wasn't a puppy, if it was an old dog, you should have been able to come up with a way to find the dog a good home. All you did was call a friend or two and ask them if they wanted a puppy. Lazy. As somebody said, it's a puppy, get in your car and take the little guy down to the Human Society ASPCA and they'll have no problem finding him a home. |
:feels-hot
I hope you never ahve kids, because if you can't handle a puppy, you'll never handle kids. What would you do, decide that you want to shoot the kids, too? If you really want to get rid of the puppy, take him to the local animal shelter or go sit outside WalMart with the puppy, a sign, and give him to someone who'll love him. The way we trained our puppy not to urinate in the house was to spank him when we caught him, then immediately take him outside. Every time he went outside (and you have to anticipate it in the early weeks), he was rewarded with a puppy treat and huge amounts of praise. When he got bigger, we taught him to scratch the door when he needed to go out by guiding his paws to do so, praising him and giving the treat, then letting him out where he could do his business, and rewarding him for doing so. Interestingly, we have had no problems with this since. dogs are quick to figure it out if you'll take the time to train them. |

Kenny's puppy just emailed me, this is what he said....
"Fuck, I've had it with this stupid human owner. What the hell does he want from me? I thought his job was to teach me what he wants, but instead he just yells at me and hits me all the time. I can't do anything right it seems. I try to have fun and play, and he hits me. I need to stop and have a poop sometimes, and he hits me. I pass some water here.... he hits me. So I pass some water there... guess what? Yap, he hits me. Then he puts me out in the cold, where it is hard to poop and pass water, but if I do it there he brings me back inside and still doesn't look too happy. It's no fun here. It was more fun when I was with my brothers and sisters, but this big bully has dognapped me. I think he's going to start withholding my food and water soon, and I think he might be a mental case. Will someone here please rescue me and shoot him for me?" Signed ~ Loveable yet miserable. Kenny, you been a baaaad master. BAD master. Post your address, so I can have someone sent over to slap you in the head a few hundred times. |
You have to get good puppy training.....
Dogs have to be trained, it can be hard, but in time the puppy will come around. Just be consistent. Animals are the closest you can come to picking a relative. |

You're in control of him/her,and it's your job to teach them what is acceptable and what is not. If the dog is not obeying you then it's something you're doing wrong. You bought the dog and you thinking about driving it 10 miles from your home??? Smart move :321GFY Take the time to teach him. We just bought a 4 month old puppy and he was not trained at all. We're still trainging him and he's doing great. It's all about taking the time to train them. They're like kids, they need love, affection, attention and stability. If you lack with any of these you will sufer the consequences. If all else fails take him to the humain society so someone else who has the time can care for him/her:2 cents: |
Pay for it to be properly trained by a professional. You can find people/companies that not only house train dogs but can also get them to follow commands such as sit, heel etc.

No Kill Shelter....easy 'nuff :)

Kenny is an idiot.
My dog is trained well enough to find things by scent. |
Contact your local ASPCA. There is probably a dog pound in your area (where they bring strays, etc.). A puppy will be snapped up within hours of being put on display there.

this is the best thread ever...sad things happen to animals...in small towns and out on farms...but no one ever broadcasts what they did...give it some more time...a dog is the only security guard you can ever get that can't be bought off
|
Kenny:
First of all you have to be smarter than the dog to train it properly, that would be your first mistake in being dumber than the dog. Second, from seeing how stupid you are on this thread, It wouldn't surprise me if it's you that is pissing all over the house and not the dog... Third, like everyone says here, you're a fucking idiot... |

get the puppy a crate , place paper down , when puppy is wet remove paper , repeat , take puppy out after all meals and every hour or two , puppies have no bladder control, praise puppy when puppy relieves self outside , never scold puppy when puppy goes inside - they have no control but praise when puppy goes outside ,REPEAT , REPEAT , soon you'll have puppies telling you when they have to go outside and that can be beneficial for your health if you're a full time webmaster sitting at your computer all day , what kind of dog is it?

I cant figure out where the hell you are comming from kenny??? what the fuck would give you the idea to shoot a puppy?? Its not even funny to post. dogs take a lot of responsiblity, they arent going to pee when you ask them to. your parents should have shot you when you were getting potty trainned, how many times did you piss your pants?? I would take that puppy in a heart beat! STUPID!!!

I should of realized alot of webmasters are office type soft people. I lived in places where people could get shot for looking at somebody wrong. Maybe I can joke about violence with more ease. It is my fault. But I am not one to allow myself to be insulted. |
Kenny............I will beat you to death with a pencil.

sell it on e-bay, just say it pisses everywhere and a freak who love to lick dog piss on the ground will buy it.

I smelled the bullshit. I did smell it.

Thanks to the people with reason who can address the real issue and give me advice reguarding my puppy. Alot of it I have already tried, some I will give a shot. And I apologize to the people who take things like that very seriously. It is my fault for posting such a hostile post. I can offer no more then that.

If you take the puppy out, you have to stay with him/her until the job is done. That way, the puppy begins to associate peeing/defacating outside with reward, which is you saying 'good dog' and giving him/her a treat of some kind. Dogs learn far better with positive reinforcement than with a slap on the head. There are even some breeds who 'remember' that slap on the head and when they get older, will pay you back. I took my puppies out every half hour, need it or not. It took a few weeks for them to train, depending on how smart they were. Shih-tzus are very tough to train. They don't like getting their feet wet, which is hard because we live in Washington State, which is very wet, most of the time. At night, I kept the puppy in a small kennel, because they don't shit where they sleep. Whenever I went out, the puppy would go into the kennel, so I didn't have to come home to a mess. Once the puppies trained, that's when they were allowed human privileges, like sleeping in bed with us. If that fails or you're thinking you don't want to do this, then your local animal shelter is probably the best chance this puppy has for a normal life. But..to drive your puppy ten miles away...I know that's just frustration talking....and it's understandable...but...don't..please...it's not a good thing to do. It doesn't offer them any chance at any kind of life....just a slow death. Good luck to you. The time you spend is worth it, in the end...'cause dogs..when they love you...it's forever. |
