If you have a really good idea and post it on kickstarter.com somebody with cash will take your idea and make it while you are waiting to get funded.

If you have a so-and-so idea and wish to crowdfund then by all means go ahead you may just get funded.

The problem with crowdfunding will be more and more crowdfunding website competing, this will dilute the total # of investors on each site and in turn reduce chances for everybody.

I guess the real problem is that there is a limited # of people actually willing to pledge money...very limited

Good points! My solution to the idea theft point is to step up to the crowdfund platform ONLY after you have a patent pending or have some crucial contracts. The key to differentiation (and protecting yourself from idea vampires) is to build some hurdles from easy idea replication.

You might be on to something. Still need to smooth out some rough edges but the concept of microniches funded by the audience itself can both be VIRAL, sustainable, and also TUBE-proof since this is crowdsourced content......
