Some people grew up and learned good values, only to get slapped in the face when they act on them. Unfair is a good way to describe it. Stupid is too harsh a word for that IMHO. She just wasn't jaded enough in her life to know that she should never turn over found money to the police. Their duty is to gather evidence. She fucked up, but wouldnt make the same mistake twice (THAT would be stupid, this one was just ignorance with a high price)43-922-863 Shut up and play your guitar.

Funny. She's acting like she "did the right thing" when really she did nothing of the sort. She didn't stop a crime from happening. Ah well, just proves that a good percentage of the population is retarded. She didn't stop a drug deal from happening and stop a kid from getting into the life of "drugs" (I use that world lightly when it comes to marijuana). She got money from what may have been a drug dealer as a tip so assuming that it was a drug dealer the deal has been done so she didn't save a damn thing.
Of course, she just fucked herself. Why is it that the more kids a person has (5 in this case) the more stupid they become? "Oh as badly as we need the $ cuz we're poor and have 5 kids I want to be a retard and do the right thing. This way the police get the $ and I can just starve, but at least I save something." That's basically it.. Retardation is spreading like wildfire.ICQ: 16544251 - Skype: gator37 @ eastlink.ca - email: yngwie @ isys.caComment

When I was a kid we were taught to turn over found money to the police. There's nothing stupid about it and it's not hard to understand. It's was ignorant her for not realising the world is not what she thought, and thats all there is to it. NEXT time if she does it, it'll be stupid now that she's learned the lesson.

For her this will, no doubt, be one of those milestone moments that one never forgets and always plays the dominate role when faced with even vaguely similar decisions.
Too bad this lesson had to come at a time when she could least afford to learn it.Comment

Nothing about that story makes sense.
Someone doesn’t just leave a 12.000 tip at the Fryn' Pan restaurant in to go box. My guess is it was some kind of shady business deal gone wrong so she panicked and left. I also doubt that the waitress didn’t open the box before she ran after the person. More than likely she saw the cash before she ran out to stash umm “return" it.
There could have been untold amount of money in there and for fear of being involved in a crime they may have pulled out $12,000 and brought it to the cops. Maybe they were afraid it was counterfeit or even terrorist loot. I just strongly doubt they turned in the full amount. If they did they have to be complete morons.Last edited by Jet Set Cat; 04-05-2012, 09:23 AM.Comment

"I know the smell of marijuana," Nickolas Fronning, a line cook at the Fryn' Pan, said in an affidavit. "I can also assure you that there was no smell of marijuana on the bills or coming from the box."

Amen.
It is a flawed argument to argue that it is the right thing to do to turn over a 12 000$ "tip" to the police, and then argue that it is wrong for the police to hold that money because it is drug money and/or the product of a shady transaction. You either stick with your good samaritan approach all the way, or you do the everyone-out-for-himself thing all the way, not call the cops, keep the money, etc. When I was a kid we were taught to turn over found money to the police. There's nothing stupid about it and it's not hard to understand. It's was ignorant her for not realising the world is not what she thought, and thats all there is to it. Do you seriously think this lady was getting a generous tip from a random stranger (who just happened to be in a hurry to leave that restaurant). Who knows, the waitress maybe came awfully close to getting whacked. I'm not saying I know what happened exactly, but the cops probably have a legal right to hold that money. In this situation, the moment she called the cops, she should have known she wasn't getting that money back, or at least that there was a strong chance she wouldn't get it back.Last edited by ckamp1; 04-05-2012, 10:41 AM.Comment

He says this in an affidavit.

Of course the cops always will have a legal right to do whatever they need to do, heh. Seriously. If they think it's drug money, then the thing to do is say you smell or detect drugs on the money. Voila, you've done what you need to do legally to keep the money as evidence.
It's not really an argument though, you can look what the police told her from their own mouths, if the story is accurate of course. First they said she could claim it in 60 days if nobody contacts them about it missing, then they told her 90 days.. and THEN they told her it's drug money. Wouldn't you think if anyone should stick to one theory it should be the police dept?
One can only speculate what was going through her head. Was there a bank robbery? Is it counterfeit? If I spend this and it's stolen and marked, will I go to jail? Who can say? What we know is she said she thought it was the right thing, and the police said she could keep it if it wasn't claimed.Last edited by Tom_PM; 04-05-2012, 10:48 AM.43-922-863 Shut up and play your guitar.
