Then send you many many emails, and still give you plenty of time after it expires to get it back. Would I recommend GD for hosting. Not likely, but for domains. I have used name cheap, moniker, and a few other registrars after buying domains. I have always transferred them out.

I agree 100% with the entire post.

That is a legit grievance, however, that is not a problem of webair. You would run into the same exact problems at any other web host. If you are sharing IP's or name servers, Spamhaus will DBL everything listed on the name server, no matter who owns what.

Agreed. I'm actually sticking up for webair here, pointing out that (as evidenced by my own experience related above) it's a situation where they, and any other registrar, pretty much have no say in the matter... unless they want their nameservers blacklisted, which will lead to a large portion of the internet suddenly not being able to resolve the registrar's customer's domains.

this isnt a negative towards webair, but doesnt matter what host, i would never register a domain with a webhost registrar, or any whitelabel.

DarkJedi 04-08-2012 06:59 AM

Thanks for the warning.

Emil 04-08-2012 08:01 AM

My domains are still down. But hey, it have only been a couple of days right?
The live-support keeps telling me that they've added "notes" to the domain-department "so they will get back to you soon". I wonder how many days "soon" is.

I dont use Webairs nameservers or their IPs for these 2 domains.

PornMD 04-08-2012 09:28 AM

Enom facilitated the theft of one of my domains registered there. Someone paid via PayPal which got reversed due to supposed compromised PP account. Enom does freeze domains for 7 days after a push, so all they had to do was freeze it longer while PayPal was investigating, or gosh...I dunno, investigate it themselves since one of their customers was a thief. They did NOTHING. The thief transferred it out and Enom never did a damn thing to stop it. Had been a customer for years until that happened but now they're easily my least favorite registrar since that time.

Same in my situation, my dom was pointed at the whitelabel program's name servers and IP.

There is a threat, implied or otherwise, that if the registrar does not comply and suspend the domain(s) in question then they'll be blanket banned. Doesn't matter where your domain sits, they just want it suspended.

Exhibit A for your pleasure....

my 2 cents:
I have domains at several different registrars (Fabulous, Moniker, Godaddy, Namecheap, Name,... and Webair).

When using a registrar there's always some kind of risk involved:

Namecheap is only a reseller and has had problems in the past with its whoisprivacy service. Namecheap also prevents you from registering or transferring domains that contain certain keywords. There's also the issue of LegitScript and Namecheap taking down pharma domains run by Canadians and aimed at Canadians because LegitScript claimed those sites could potentially be used by US based customers to buy meds.

Godaddy has its own share of horror stories. The seclists.org fiasco is one of them.

Moniker is no longer the company it once was. For example, last year they accidentally dropped the whoisprotection on a few hundred of my domains. They didn't even apologize.
...

I put my domains in several different baskets to spread the risk and for seo reasons. While I'm aware of the hosting problems mentioned in this thread, I still use Webair as a registrar for a decent part of my network. So far I've not yet had any problems. of course there's thing i wish they would do differently, things I wish they would change about their control panel. But then again, I have the same remarks about most of the other registrars I use.

Would I recommend Webair's dedicated servers? I have no experience with them so I can't.
Would I recommend Webair as a registrar? yes, I would.

Still down.

Emil 04-09-2012 11:00 AM

Webair said the domain-support would call within 3 hours. This was about 7 hours ago.

candyflip 04-09-2012 11:04 AM

Bunch of fuckwits at Webair. Still operating of past Bro Credit.

I've been in contact with the regular support several times but there is also a support section for the domains-department and I cant get a hold of them.

The regular webair-support have sent them my tickets and escalated them, added notes to them and so on but still no contact from them.

Does webair internal not actually handle the domains side and outsources it to some third party? Else why couldn't someone just go slap someone?

Fuck
You
Webair!

Fix it.

rowan 04-11-2012 10:04 PM

So it's been about 10 days now and it's still not resolved?

porno jew 04-11-2012 10:08 PM

glad to see this resolved.

anexsia 04-11-2012 10:21 PM

Looks like webair made your domains disappear into thinair.

bean-aid 04-11-2012 10:53 PM

How much money is lost each day? If nothing, time to just suck it up. If money, hire an attorney. They are in the US so lots you can do. Do they have a leg to stand on?

anexsia 04-11-2012 11:27 PM

But seriously, like many others have said...never register domains with your webhost and always search thoroughly for reviews on a web host your interested in. Webair has so many bad threads/reviews throughout the years on this forum and it should be taken as a warning sign. Sure, plenty of people probably have no problems at all and every big company can't keep everyone happy...but there's plenty of big webhosting companies that DON'T have a large amount of bad reviews/problems with customers.

While this is a bit too much even by Webair standards, you have to realize that even they have to push their limits and evolve. :)

They didn't make that much money at all but on the other side I didn't do any work at all with them either.

I think it's fucked up that Webair didn't even notify me and now they're just ignoring me.

Markul 04-12-2012 07:26 AM

Webair is as bad as Dreamhost. I tried both and will never look back.

GL to the OP.

CreamPieVelvetSky 04-12-2012 07:47 AM

If this thread was about finding cheap hosting Webair would have replied by now.

DamianJ 04-12-2012 07:48 AM

Unlike webair support.
