Hi Mark, yeah, it's been awhile huh?

LOL ouch.

I've seen a few eyebrows split from that. Even happened to R. Lee Ermey on an episode of Locked and Loaded. Hopefully I'll never experience that rush. :winkwink:

If you get into rifle shooting, AZ has some great long range matches and those guys usually like to share their knowledge with newbies.

I personally enjoyed shooting my Glock .45 caliber
You can check out the C model glocks because they compensate more for recoil.

I hate little guns because they feel like cap guns when you shoot them.

The Glock 21SF has less perceived recoil than their .40 cals. It's also considerably easier to rack the slide. Best of all, you can put a .50GI conversion on it. :winkwink:

The problem with the C models is that if you shoot them in low light conditions, you only get one fast accurate shot. The flash from the compensator can and will blind you. It may only be for a second or two but that's enough time to lose the battle.

Amazing they let you have that silenced. The crowd control of the future.

Gotcha. Then I'd say you're looking good with any of the single stack 1911's.

If cost is not a factor, Kimber, Colt Gold Cup or the Wiley Clapp Commander. I LOVE the grips on the Wiley Clapp.

Les Baer, Ed Brown

Something a little lower price but with great bang for the buck is the Springfield Range Officer.

The full size options will of course have less recoil. If you get a smaller 1911 and the recoil is an issue, you can experiment with different guide rod/spring combinations until you find what suits you best. :2 cents:

I think Kimber is the one to go with :)

ever heard of these guys?

Silenced and select fire. That is the actual P90 that was digitally mapped for the Modern Warfare series.

For sure. They seem to have some nice products but when I attempted to contact them a couple of years ago to buy from them, I could never get a response. Haven't tried since.

Get training before buying anything. If you're in SoCal check out Scott Reitz at ITTS, www.internationaltactical.com

abyss al...training is a must. Also, for new gun owners a good revolver may be the way to go. I like the 5 shot Smith & Wesson .357...but it will kick a bit. I have an H&K that is really sweet. I also have a Walther PPK-S...it is easy to carry, but not the most accurate gun.

I don't own one, but I've shot a daewoo compact 9mm (DP51? not sure) a few times, and was fairly impressed. The smoothest double action on a compact auto I've ever shot, felt fine in my big hands. Big trigger guard for a compact, and the trigger pull was fantastically smooth.

The pistol's owner, who let me shoot it, sang it's praises. I didn't believe him about the doubleaction until I tried it, it was pretty amazing.

I've always intended to get one, but I don't really need any more pistols for now. If I was shopping for a new one, that would be one of the first I looked for.

It handled like a compact, not sure if it's thin enough for OPs desires.

OP, just go to a few gun shops and handle the actual pistols.
