Short version: Avoid scumbags. History often repeats itself.
Long version:
Look for people who need you and can appreciate you (just like any other relationship). Often the smaller programs have people more like you and they often will appreciate the amount of signups you send them. It's more of a true partnership than with the larger ones who tend to only see you either as a burden or an exploitable resource.
Pay attention to the threads which discuss piracy. Look to see who is speaking out and click their sig and check their program. Likewise if you see an owner or affiliate rep supporting pirates or scumbags note it on your blacklist. There's a good chance they own a pirate site or do most of their business with one. That means they'll probably end up just like Vidz and doing the same thing to you eventually. They don't need you and it shows they probably don't plan on keeping an affiliate program around for long so why waste your time with them?
If you're selling paysites as an affiliate you have an interest in seeing the model kept viable in the long term. People say otherwise but it's nothing more than common sense.

Tell me about it.. I paid my employee for the past 5-6 months to add their content to several hundred of our sites.. now I have to pay him to take them all down and replace them..
(I sort of had a feeling they were going to go under because of all of the technical issues in the past few months along with plummeting ratios combined with no replies to support requests.. so we had started moving their shit to secondary pages.. but we just started doing that a couple weeks ago, I was hoping they had a bit longer before folding).
We have over 1000 sites, and their stats do not show referrers to fhg's and shit.. so we will have to go through each site one at a time.. it'll take us as least 1-2 months to remove everything..
Ya.. "there will be no more payments from 04/09/2012" pretty much says they are keeping the rebills.. and I am guessing no email notification was sent in hopes that half the affiliates they have do not realize they need to pull links.. I totally feel your frustration.. For alot of them to get them by niche, what I do is
url_to_video|url_to_thumbnail|description|title|Si te_Name (if site name is offered)
and then I can sort in Excel by site name instead of spending a friggin hour doing them one at a time. Then I just strip out the site name once they are sorted.
On a totally different note, the other thing that really frustrates me is FHG's that either do not have thumbs (or thumbs do not work), do not have descriptions (or all of the descriptions are identical).. uggghhh...
Gonna hit you up on ICQ now because I know it says if you choose all sites it may give a blank page due to the # of files and keep trying. but I've tried like 15 times and nada.. lol400 HARDL1NKS only $117! - (100 for $45)
