NBC is 'sorry' for editing Zimmerman tape.

NBC News apologized on Tuesday for the way it edited a broadcast of a conversation between George Zimmerman and a police dispatcher before teenager Trayvon Martin was killed by Zimmerman.

Quote:
The "Today" show's segment ran as:

"Zimmerman: This guy looks like he's up to no good. He looks black."

The full conversation ran as:

"Zimmerman: This guy looks like he's up to no good. Or he's on drugs or something. It's raining and he's just walking around, looking about.

Dispatcher: OK, and this guy - is he black, white or Hispanic?

Zimmerman: He looks black."
Are they sorry for the damage to race relations in America?

Last week Fox News did a report in which it presented "before" and "after" versions of the call. NBC had broadcast the edited exchange on its flagship "Today" morning show.

NBC News launched an investigation after the Fox report.

"During our investigation it became evident that there was an error made in the production process that we deeply regret," NBC News representative Lauren Kapp said in a statement on Tuesday, in response to a query by Reuters. "We will be taking the necessary steps to prevent this from happening in the future and apologize to our viewers."

That's called making news not reporting news. FCC should yank their license to broadcast for a couple of weeks. Wouldn't that put a new spin on spinning the news.

At least Fox doesn't feel alone in the "racist media outlet" corner anymore!

So if a guy is wandering around looking for something, maybe seems confused, you are allowed to go up and get in his face, challenge him, and if he isn't perfectly meek and submissive, or even if he is, maybe he's yelling for help or something, you can go ahead and shoot'em.

You guys will reach for pretty much any straw. You'll suck this anti-hahahahahaha shit up like mothers milk, but it makes no difference to most people, who did not base whatever conclusions they drew from any one piece of news, which is characteristic of a more sophisticated media consumer.

But, I agree, media companies that release edited tapes without access to the full recordings should be heavily fined, and upon 2nd violations have licenses suspended for a period, with increasingly stuff penalities large enough to threaten the stockholders.

Push for it, you'll probably get a lot of support for punishing news media that airs edited tapes.

Nah just switch the fucking channel.
Fuck NBC and their lying asses.
I can't say that I'm surprised that they did it though.

No, Zimmerman probably committed murder. That doesn't mean it's okay for NBC to edit the tape in a way that completely changes the conversation in an effort to inflame racial tensions.

That would be one surefire way to put Fox News out of business...
