Yahoo Chat Bot

Anyone ever used one?
Do sponsors allow this type of traffic?
I have a guy who wants $2500 for a copy of his chatbot he swears is gold.

Just not sure if its worth that much and if its even allowed or considered the same type of traffic as spam.

Yahoo chat sucks because of that. These cocksuckers are running those bots 24/7 in non adult rooms.

And the hosts dont even care when they get a complaint, big adult hosts too.

i hate them too but if i can make a buck off em that would be great. i would keep it mellow and probably hype a site that looks like im an aspiring model whos featured in a big site or something.

"hi! wanna chat?!"

"uh... ok..."

"hey! got a webcam? wanna see mine?"

"uh... ok..."

"great. go here and see it [link]. ok, i gotta go, i have a chatroom on there, i'll see you there, right?"

"uh... ok..."

and sometimes, to add real flair if they don't answer....

"you're going, right? hurry up!"

People know they're bots as soon as they show up, and usually put em on ignore..
I'd be way surprised if he gets near the hits that he claims..

people are gettin fed up with that nonsense...
and it IS a form of unsolicited advertising.. so I would think that spam policies would apply..

yeah i think it must be the kind of traffic that is frowned upon by most sponsors too so id probably hype my own site to avoid being bothered.

its got a pretty cool way of randomizing messages so that it doesnt appear to be an obvious bot.

3K hits a day if its true i think would definitely bring in a lot of sales.

At $35 a pop (if i used a program like platinumbucks or something)
i'd need 71 sales to break even.

if i converted at even 1:1000 it would take me less than a month to break even. but i guess the gamble is can i really get 3K hits a day. also i wonder if yahoo would ever start suing people using bots. shit i dont know.. sounds so tempting but $2500 doesnt grow on trees.

i guess the question is... would you buy it??

I had one over the summer and for a good 3 weeks straight, it brought in upto $1k+ a day. It just ran in the background. It could send out 1,000,000 messages per day, rotating through names and servers.

I didn't buy it, took it in trade for some design work...but I loved seeing that type of money on a regular basis.

I promoted straight dialers. We'd pull in almost 150 calls per day US. You can be sneaky with those things.

My program still works, but Yahoo blocks ips after it sees a certain number of message sent from it. Make sure you are able to use proxy, and you've got some means of getting a fresh list of a about 10,000 per day. You'll also have to come up with a way to make Yahoo screen names. I've got a name maker that someone gave me too.

These spam hacks know their shit. If the program is good, it's good. If it's shit...you'll be out your $2500 and you'll know within a few minutes of running the program.

The way that mine works is this. It enters the chat rooms (sex specific) and gathers all the names in the chat room and sends them an instant message with a link.

I couldn't code it, but I read up on the topic while I was making good money with mine.

Nope. Like I said. They block the urls in message pretty quickly. I can't find fresh proxy servers fast enough. It's tough to keep up with that and making the new names. They block those to. You can only make 10 per ip, per day. So...again. Switch proxy and do 10 more. They had a glitch one weekend, and they weren't blocking...I made about 150,000 yahoo screen names in about 3 days time. Tinkering with it sometimes was just as much fun as watching it make money.

but im so damn tempted to try this stuff i think i might just fork over the $2500 bucks.

yeah thats totally true. something like this that actually would work sounds more like something you would come across back in 1997 or something... i dont think theres much left in the way of scripts or some shit that you can buy from someone and make money out of unless its run down.

but im still thinking stupidly and going to probably buy this damn thing. maybe ill buy it with some ARS rewards points

why don't you put the money into something you can be proud of and possibly make just as much money from? Most spammers here are just failed webmasters...put the $2.5k to good use and save yourself the trouble

I know someone that had a spambot custom built for a few grand. Made around $12,000 a week for awhile that slowly went downt to around $2000 a week. That was 2 years ago. The bot won't anymore and guess what. He used his money to buy updated ones, different ones, etc. He doesn't program.

2 years ago spamming is just like 2 years ago as a webmaster,if you have a "friend" or you personally can come up with something new every week then sure you can spam the rest of your life... but it comes to an end one way or another, going ot be hilarious when one of GFY's own gets taken down with thes enew laws coming into place

On yahoo....
Once upon a time, a girl with web cam turned on... when I saw it, FUCK... it was showing a URL on a paper... tricky bot but a little bit funny for me.

the bots are a waist of time, I know one of the prog. who works for the yahoo team, and he tells me that they are working on a way to stop those bots from coming into the chat room. Apparently yahoo doesn't want anyone making money off of them if they are not getting paid.

Yeah, I bought the damn thing. You guys are right when you say if soemthing is good why would you not use it yourself ????

I do some major SE advertising and I wanted to try to branch out, say the post on yahoo a few days ago about the program and decided to try it out. Doesn't work worth shit.

I talked around and met this guy who does a lot of yahoo chatroom stuff. He said the shit is so saturated now that you can make dick on there. He said it was prime about 2 years ago but now everyone is advertising there, more spam then real people. I guess that is why this guy is selling his shit now, cause he cant make dick off of using it himself. I also heard the traffic you do get is trash and not a lot of affiliate programs will allow it as well. This guy said he is still working it some but he wont be for long, not worth his time.

All makes sense now and the program didn't good anyway, always locking up and i doubt you could get a couple hundreds hits now, maybe 3K 3 years ago. Also my e-mails for a refund go un answered....

Learnng my lesson the hard way, should have done my homework and I am sticking to SE . If anyone wants to trade SE info for something other yahoo garbage traffic e-mail.

Mike

When I was younger and mIRC was a new program...I wrote a bot script for it that would emulate a real chat whore. I didn't use it to spam any sites, it was more of a fun project to log the conversations guys had with it and post them on a web site. People are stupid, will always be stupid, and I'd say a good 50% of people using something like Yahoo chat wouldn't know the difference between a bot and a real person.

Yes, this is a total rip off. My friend bought the program and it doesn't even work! It doesn't even login to the chat! And now, he won't even reply back with emails. This guy is just stealing money from people.

You can only make 10 per ip, per day. So...again. Switch proxy and do 10 more. They had a glitch one weekend, and they weren't blocking...I made about 150,000 yahoo screen names in about 3 days time. Tinkering with it sometimes was just as much fun as watching it make money.
I've got a list of 100,000 or so proxies I collected myself. Are you looking to get rid of your bot or maybe make a deal?

The point is he still does it. He used the mad cash he made when he started to pay programmers to keep up. He makes around 5k a week right now and doesn't push it at all.
