        Hillbilly is a term referring to certain people who dwell in rural, mountainous areas of the United States, primarily Appalachia but also the Ozarks.         So there was a show called "The Beverly Hill Billies." The term Hillbilly has to do with people from HILLS, as in the Appalachian mountains http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Appalachia

        Redneck is a term for a white male who spends his time out on a farm, or field, outdoors, and has a farmer tan. Hardworking because they work in the sun. A lifestyle.

        If you actually live in a place where there are truly hillbillies and/or rednecks you would know. I don't think anyone in this thread even really qualifies.

        hillbilly is a specific term though.
