I've seen some old (25-30 year) HDs listed on data recovery buy/sell sites for $1k+. They probably have one of each sitting there doing nothing, hoping one day that a some important device containing the HD will fail, and a replacement will be needed in a hurry, cost no argument...
Dollars were twice as valuable then, too. That's a $5,000 hard drive.

I remember our first family computer when I was 11 years old.
ATX 486 50mhz 4mb ram(I upgraded to 8 and was in warp speed a couple of months after). We had windows 3.1 and Internet through netscape navigator 1. It was in 1994
My uncle sold me a full height 5MB (megabytes, not gigabytes) hard drive a few years ago for $5, purely for curiosity really as I didn't have the correct interface for it. New, maybe in the late 1970s or early 1980s, it would have cost thousands.
