I'm not trying to lecture or taking a side, but not all the "muslims" do that. Probably regime in some countries like Afghanistan (who are muslims) does that, using the religion as a form of excuse to make people fear them. The fear makes people submissive and quiet - see North Korea, Syria, Libya, Egypt - back in time - all the countries in Eastern Europe, Cuba, China, Soviet Russia. Every government, leader who comes on the big stage uses different approach to run the masses. In this case the religion. In all the case not all the muslims are homosexual haters, crazed suicide bombers something that comes in list.
The same way we can say that all the US army hates children because one (or more) crazy US soldier did that. For the record I'm not muslim, but I believe that most of the people are good.Comment

My best friend growing up was muslim. His father was a dentist and his family escaped Iran and settled in our neighborhood, as did his extended family. They were the kindest and most friendly people I knew at that time.
What muslims are letting happen in their countries, in the name of their religion, is not right. My muslim ethics teacher in college was a victim of female genital mutilation as a child, that's when I first learned of such a practice that is legal in her country. Honor killings are legal. Televised public hanging homosexual men is legal. Disfiguring a woman who has dishonored the family or spouse is legal. Stoning a person to death is legal. Cutting off the limbs of thieves is legal.
The fact that these awful practices are legal, means that they are accepted by the majority. If that's not the case then muslims need to rise up and effect change that represents the true silent majority.
Organized religion fucks up every society, none is immune.

I didn't mention anywhere else, or even any religious aspect, (unlike the original poster, and several other people in this thread, who made some OUTRAGEOUS claims about Islam, including the belief that all black dogs are "demons"). In what country are honor killings or disfiguring women legal? They are illegal in every country. You're making things up and letting your ignorance fuel your hate.
What you're saying is the same as someone saying that it is legal in the US to electrocute someone to death and let people watch or hanging someone and letting people watch or injecting someone with poison while they are strapped down to a table and letting people watch. Sure they are legal but only at certain times.
Nobody in Iran has ever been hung just for being gay. Gay people get hung because they are gay and raped someone or did something like that but those human rights groups (or the 1 human rights group that you are quoting from Wikipedia) is a specifically anti-Iran human rights group and they leave out the part about the person raping or the other crimes they are actually hung for.
It's like that woman who cheated on her husband that was sentenced to death - all the sensationalism about some lady being put to death it was almost never mentioned what her real crime was - murder. That's what she was being sentenced to death for but saying that she was an adulterer and sentenced because of that paints such a better picture (or worse depending on which side you're looking at it from).Comment
