Here are some random reasons why internet porn doesn't seem to be selling as much as it used to:
1) When internet porn started, that's when content creation for the internet started too, which meant porn was new to everyone that saw it at the start and took a while for things to get oversaturated and higher quality to make the older porn seem worthless to buy.
2) Much more webmasters are promoting the same thing since more people have computers and are in need of making a few extra bucks these days and hosting is super cheap compared to the 90s (Affiliate marketing got me out of poverty)
3) Blackhat and cookie stuffing cheaters
4) Some 'webmasters' just suck and like to complain about it even if they've never made money in the past either.. :321GFY
5) Internet connection speed is much better than before so promoting only image FHGs doesn't quite cut it anymore by itself..
6) There's a lot more to do on the internet nowaday than just research and jerk off like it used to be...

The point is if you have good content and promote it well with good selling text, minimal leaks on the page, frequent members area updates, great landing page with clear info of what the surfer is getting, and know how to promote your niche, then you can make good money. The amount of money that people spend on porn is determined by how good you are at selling.. ;)

I don't think tubes are the problem..

Not true. When the Internet started was in the 50s. The history of the Internet began with the development of computers in the 1950s. Until the introduction of Digital Cameras it was mostly scans off pages from magazines or slides. Which were mostly produced by professionals like me. The first affordable ones were around 1998 if my memory serves me right. There were ones before, but very expensive. Olympus and Nikon were early in this race.

It wasn't till then that online shooters could afford a digital camera.
Quote:

2) Much more webmasters are promoting the same thing since more people have computers and are in need of making a few extra bucks these days and hosting is super cheap compared to the 90s (Affiliate marketing got me out of poverty)
Agreed. We have 10,000s of affiliates between the creators/publishers and customers. Do they make the same money the offline retail made? I very much doubt it. Never met an affiliate worth what some retail pornographers are worth. They were not people living in the Philippines. ;)

Quote:

3) Blackhat and cookie stuffing cheaters
Online has been a boom for all the cheaters, scammers, freeloaders, pirates, etc.
Quote:

4) Some 'webmasters' just suck and like to complain about it even if they've never made money in the past either.. :321GFY
It can still make them some money. They have 0 investment, 0 to lose, yet moan. Go figure.

Quote:

5) Internet connection speed is much better than before so promoting only image FHGs doesn't quite cut it anymore by itself..
Yes the speed online and the competition to give porn away has slashed online income. Speed was a silver line, on base metal for most.

Quote:

6) There's a lot more to do on the internet nowaday than just research and jerk off like it used to be...
True, once the "free" is taken out of the Internet. It will become what it should be. Culture needs to change, people who think "If it's online it should be free." Are dinosaurs. The Internet is business. We can entertain to get traffic to sell advertising. But we can't keep giving the product away for free. Someone somewhere has to pay. Which is why today offline retail mainstream is rushing to get online. I just ordered a $800 data storage unit. Can't frigging pirate that or give it away. :winkwink:

Quote:

I don't think tubes are the problem..
True. But it comes down to the producer of the product to create something that will convert and retain traffic. In porn that's for the elite group of sites. Most can\t afford it and it's cheaper to spend more on traffic and less on the product in some sphere of the Internet.

For porn Tubes are the problem along with piracy. If a shooter spends the money to fly to Bali with the top crew and talent to create the greatest porn. Online can't afford it. DVDs did many times. Digital Playground and a few others, could never support their production on Internet sales alone.

1 thing you got wrong, another we disagree on, the rest. :thumbsup

Paul Markham 03-19-2012 11:49 AM

As someone who was introduced to the Internet in the early 70s, my two brothers were both training to be programmers. In the days of machine code. I've seen the Internet grow from something that linked colleges, plus what ever Governments were doing with it, to today and it being in most Western Households and a lot more places.

From transferring at a snails pace to today's high speed connections. Obviously with the Internet being another outlet for the porn I was shooting or another way to sell the porn direct I was in online porn long before most here. For the mail order business I was a merchant able to take money with cards present or not. Mostly not. So taking orders online was easy, just needed the number and expiry date for me to fill in the form and add it to my bank deposit slips. no such thing as Epassporte and online billing then.

Selling the images we were selling to magazines, to sites was also something I did a lot of. Did open a site in the 90s and it was small beer for me, should of done more work on it. There were no affiliates, no boards and the only real place to promote were Newsgroups. No secret, I sucked at it because I was too busy shooting videos and sending them out via the post. :Oh crap

Yes trolls, before you knew there was a boat I missed it the first time around. :1orglaugh

Still the good times for online porn started around 1998. Some will say a year earlier, some will say a year later. Different sides of the same coin.

The main markets were as then the US and EU. There were people in other places viewing and everyone did everything they could to monetise the traffic. Remember phone billing? Still around but not big money. The meat of the revenue was and still are countries we could bill, with a decent standard of living and always had access to porn of some sort. Maybe not ass banging teens like Max Hardcore, but they had Mayfair, Penthouse and often more.

And that's where a bulk of the market online probably came from. Not the traffic, the buyers. As the Internet grew, offline decreased. For many reasons. Availability, price, value, free, and micro niches that it simply was hardly worth launching a lot of lines.

Why buy a magazine when all the pictures any reader could ever hope for were free on The Hun? Yes some bought, 1-500 of surfers maybe. What was being spent on magazines, was being got for free on TGP sites, with a few buyers.

Remember all the people saying you're losing customers getting them off for free with hardcore images?

Then what about the people who could log into a site, download in a month, cancel and have 3-4 months of brand new porn for their enjoyment. Contrary to what some say, rarely is a site so good they have to have the very latest update on the day it comes out. They have 3-4 months worth of brand new content on their Hard Drives. Sales of HD's took off and many now employ tools like Throttlebox.

Yes brand new world for some who never knew the old world. I knew both and sad the online sector paid so much for something that's so easy to get and killed so many sales trying to get it. Still the affiliates won't like that. Not their fault, they took advantage.

Even Mike says there are many little ones who moan about their income. In offline, they have expenses and go bankrupt. The bar is set higher, so few moan, too busy making money, or were.

Would I have done anything differently given the knowledge I have today of online porn? Yes and so would most here or know they're stuck with the little they have. We would all change something. I would of sunk some money into getting my sites really going, employ someone to submit by hand to Newsgroups all day long.

Given the knowledge I had then would I of done it differently? No. As most here would say. We work with the available knowledge we have and the skills.

Its been explained to you time and time again. I don't read your walls of text because you're too fucking dumb to put together a coherent argument or point. You continuing to ask the same questions repeatedly is just your pathetic way of attempting to shift the discussion away from your ineptitude, incompetence and general stupidity.

Didn't really realize you were such a failure until i got there spent time with you, went to your studios, went to a shoot (which, like everything, you denied happened)... it unfolded over 2 days where we finally realized you were fucking hopeless. Not only totally retarded, but imploding financially and losing your ass.

The truth is that you didn't retire. The truth is you couldn't afford to pay the lease on that "studio" and finally lost it and just couldn't pull it together after that, so you quit.

Anyway Paul, keep asking questions as if anyone as if attempting to shift attention away from your own idiocy is going to cause people to suddenly believe you. I'll keep taking a break from work to make fun of you just as others are.

translation is under and anyone who understand czech can confirm it.

Just small translation of some info from that czech part:

"The most girls who comes to shoot with us and has some kind of experience with Paul, they are telling us, that he is disgusting old grandpappa who promised them 10k CZK for shooting..
After shooting 2-3 sets he propose them a threesome with his young wife. If the girl refuse and paul isnt satisfied with shooting, he pays them 3k CZK"

the final party is really juicy too:
"then he is bragging about it on GFY and doesnt tell anyone that he is in fact begging for sex"

maybe its a good post to make topic from....? cause other GFYers wont see it here :-)
