Metallica, i think it was 97, at a small club called "Münchenbryggeriet" here in Stockholm. Very nice...
Paradise Lost 96 at Circus, also in Stockholm. I got a Headbangers Ball T-shirt from Vanessa Varwick :) |
Stone Roses last gig...
|
Queen's last gig at Knebworth Park in 1986.
200,000 people in a field! They came on to 'One Vision' blasting out of the sound system at about twice the volume of anything previously. The crowd was really getting into it, bouncing up and down, clapping, screaming, and on the final keyboard chord before the guitar, Freddie appeared and the crowd went completely ballistic (If you hear the 'Live Magic' album, turn it up as loud as you possibly can stand. Shut your eyes and imagine a fifth of a million people in a relatively small field all around you! All pushing into you. All going mental. Still sends shivers down my spine thinking about it :thumbsup |

back when I was a concert promoter, in my younger more naive days... my favorite 5 concerts I put on:
1. The Rentals (first show I put on, their 3rd show ever - Maya Rudolph from their touring band is now on SNL. Spent the day hanging with her and Cherie, Matt Sharp was nowhere to be found) 2. Blink 182 / Less Than Jake / Buck 'O Nine (actually made some $$ and had a good time) 3. Sublime (their last show ever before Brad Nowell OD'd. major stress night, but it came close to selling out) 4. Ash (nicest guys - too bad the show did like, 60 people and we lost $300). 5. They Might Be Giants (one of my favorite groups of all time - lost $8000 on the show because of weak ticket sales. I never even got the meet either John). |
Thanks to $$ from porn I get to see a lot of concerts every year
I should have gone to seattle to see paul mcartney, I heard that was good There were so many that it's hard to remember them all some of the best lately Billy Joel Elton John ***** U2 ***** Eagles ***** Supertramp **** Peter Gabrial *** Rush ***** Going to see Springsteen Shortly |

LOLLAPALOOZA '92-
Red Hot Chili Peppers Ministry Ice Cube Soundgarden The Jesus And Mary Chain Pearl Jam Lush Temple Of The Dog Jim Rose Circus and Sideshow That show rocked. |
Hendrix @ Isle of Wight
The Who @ Charlton Pink Floyd "Animals" @ Wembley Eric Clapton "Prince's Trust" @ Royal Albert Hall Rolling Stones free concert in Hyde Park Eddie Izzard @ Hammersmith (Does a comedian count? If not, Bob Marley and Queen were good there too) A guy called Jake Thackeray played his very idiosyncratic songs for almost 3 hours at the Fairfield Halls, Croydon once. Every time he tried to leave the audience cheered him back. I don't think anyone noticed after the first few minutes there were fewer than 50 sitting in the big auditorium: Jake got everyone front and center and the concert was like in someone's home. |
Union Underground and From Zero. This wouldn't be favorite if it was just a normal show but this was at a local venue that holds only 300 people. Talk about a fucking house party! One of my friends is in with some big promotors and landed the show while they were passing through. Only 300 people and the place was literally rocking from the crowd jamming. You could get as close as you wanted and there was no backstage so everyone was right in the middle of the show.

Meatloaf, at a local rock bar when i was 16. We had a table right next to the stage. Meatloaf was so wired, and sweating like a pig. The sweat was just flying all over us.
|
I got sprayed in the face with pepper spray at the Anger Management concert last year. That was fun fun fun.
Family Values was good (Linkin Park was worth being squished to death by really big men for a couple of hours) and Lilith Fair was a good experience too...but the best concerts I've ever been to have been Depeche Mode, HANDS DOWN. I've seen them in concert three times now and it's an out of this world experience. I love them. Busta Rhymes is pretty good in concert too, as is Janet Jackson. |

That was one of the first concerts i even been to. I saw them during a summer between 6th and 7th grade when on tour for their album 'Some Great Reward.' I begged and begged my parents to go for months and months. Luckly my older brothers best friend drove at the time and he was a friend my parents trusted. What i would have given to have seen the Speak and Spell tour. I've seen them many many times since then, but one show i remember well, was when OMD opened up for them. That was a really great show. Another favorite was seeing New Order. Echo & the Bunnymen opened for them. Great combination and also great show. |
