How about if your budget is low an ipad (or something similar since I hate apple) and with a higher budget a new car. Doesn't have to be brand new but make sure since its a girl that it be dependable.

Best thing you can do is buy her some books about economics and money. She may not like them now but she'll appreciate it later in life. But to be nice, slip some cash in them.

My second thought was that he was fucking the 16 year old which is a byproduct of my lifestyle.

What to buy a 16 year old...Wow, does that vary depending on where you live. In the USA you buy them a car, cell phone, or give them cash.

In the Philippines you buy them a box of beer, get the Karaoke machine setup, and have a party. (After all, at 16 they have already graduated high school.) Of course, they could just go buy their own beer, no one asks for an ID anyways.
