If the government were to impose a military draft right now, do you think they would have a handle on who is of legal age, and who is not? of who is of legal residence, and who is not? Of course they would! A computerized database of legal and verifiable voters can easily exist, and once you vote ONCE, your vote has been cast ONCE, and it can not be cast again. The fix is a cinch, and if it benefitted the GOP, then a simplistic voter database solution would be their top agenda, instead of their rush for voter suppression. How many states are trying to set up new rules THIS YEAR, suddenly? And how many of them are Republican-run states? No correlation there? Please! Who gives a shit about voter cards, IDs, blah blah blah. Do you need an ID to pay your taxes? No? Why, can the government track you somehow? If so, then my argument stands. You don't need an ID to be audited or arrested. Go figure. |

I had to go register for the draft, when I turned 18. I HAD TO SHOW ID! You spew Bull Shit about it helping one side and hurting the other. I ask for ONE simple thing, how does it do this. NOW, I was against it when people had to PAY for ID cards if they did not Need a DL or needed ID before. Now that several states are making them FREE, I fail to see what challenge or repression it is now causing. If I hear another REAL reason, then I will be against it again. Ill check back in several hours to see if you have came up with anything the PROVES they are being repressed. On to your system, I have said for YEARS since computers and servers are so powerful now, that we should not even need paper voting or hanging chads and stuff... Is there rom for fraud in anything YES. Did old people bitch about not being able to use the computers to vote YES. Will everyone ever be Happy NO. With as many Credit Card places, banks and other Huge sites being hacked even the US Drone, I don't trust an online voting system right now either. |

How to vote three times in an election:
Step one. Register in three different voting districts under three different names with three random Social Security Numbers. This does not require ID, nor are those rolls checked with any kind of real scrutiny, (and there are hundreds of examples to back that up). Step two. On election day, go the the polling station in each district, tell them the fake name and SSN that you registered, sign off and vote. Do this three times. Congratulations, and remember, Voter Early and Vote Often!! .

Is there more to what they have done than that? Is their evidence that they actually carried out voter fraud? I admit I haven't really followed what ACORN has done, but I know they are favorite target of the right so likely I am missing something. |

You have to be rich and white to get ID? That's the silliest crap I've ever heard. Really desperate on the "quick, pull out the race card" trigger, aren't we? Such total race-baiting gobbledy gook. And for those people that mentioned people without drivers licenses, the law allows you to use ANY state or federal ID, or even your birth certificate. .

But if you have a list of "fake" people you can go vote Many times.. Sad part is we are all talking about this, when the votes kinda dont matter any way, since the electorial college picks. Sure they "should" vote for who the masses are voting for, but they do not have to. |

I actually think it will help cut down on fraud because as it is now it often comes down to 1 or 2 states to decide who wins. When those are the stakes people are more likely to carry out fraud in order to win those states. If it were one big general election cheating and risking going to jail to produce a few dozen or hundred extra votes wouldn't have nearly the impact it can now so I think we might see less of it. Add in that there are a lot of people right now who don't vote because they happen to live in states that swing in the opposite direction of their beliefs. If you are a democrat in Oklahoma it doesn't matter if you vote for president because the democrat has no chance of winning. Likewise if you are republican living somewhere like Vermont. If it were a general election your vote would actually matter. |

I think since they have State issued cards with magnetic strips, they should be used. I use to go to a bar that used it to keep the 86 list current and if a problem broke out, they knew who to go after

Can anyone find the actual letters written by the Justice Department online?
They are sure not front and center on the DOJ website, and I do think they'd be worth reading for developing an argument against Section 2257. |

When I think of how democrats are so against people being required to carry an ID to vote or to prove they are citizens, yet they will make us carry ID's for their healthcare system, I have to remember what Ben Stein said about it
Fathom the hypocrisy of a government that requires every citizen to prove they are insured . . . but not everyone must prove they are a citizen I think the democrats are not telling you the truth on this, just a thought

That's right! It's UN-AMERICAN to ask for ID when dealing with the government!!
(except for picking up a package, borrowing a book, appling for government benefits, welfare, or foodstamps, getting a government job, cashing a government check, etc...) (Oh, and the Obama care law will require ID to get government healthcare) But anyway... Except for THAT stuff, it's TOTALLY UNFAIR and UN-AMERICAN to ask for ID! . ![]() .

In some countries it is compulsory to vote.
I'd like to see that here in the US. If you are 18 or older you HAVE to vote, or you will be heavily fined or imprisoned. That would be fine with me. Let's make voting compulsory, and see how it goes. |

THANK YOU!!!!!!!! By the way, as a former Army JAG, graduate of the Army's 90th Basic JAG School, and a veteran of three years in the US Army Europe with lots of travel, I do know a few things about the status of forces agreements and ID for military members. Usually, a Status of Forces Agreement (SOFA) is reached with countries where we keep troops on a long term basis and it deals with many issues, from sales tax (mehwersteur in Germany) to car registration to amenability to prosecution before local courts to lawsuits to damage to civilian property - to ID issues. Obviously, when we invade, there is no formality because we are at war with the other country; the marines and army at Normandy were not carrying passports or Nazi-occupied French visas. But one of the first items of business is to negotiate such a treaty once our puppet client state government is in power. The Iraquis were unwilling to agree to waive criminal jurisdiction for crimes committed by Americans on their turf, client state or not, and this was the public reason why we decided to pull our troops out. Frankly, I think it was a convenient public excuse to give cover to the Obama administration for what it wanted to to. But in any event, the SOFA treaty with most places where we post troops permits international travel on a military ID with travel orders. When one travels to a neutral country where we have no SOFA, say Austria or Switzerland, the soldier must also have a normal US Passport like anyone else. When I traveled in those days, I always used my passport except when there was an advantage to being military; in Italy, they search people on the way out of the country. Using my military ID and orders saved me that indignity. That's how it works. |
